Day 8- And then there were two
Me, Andrew and Dad parted ways today as Dad was spending a few days camping and trucking with Uncle Phil.
Unfortunately, that gave us chance to do serious damage to our bank balance without Dad's prying eyes, so off to the Mall and Outlets we went. The first stop was starbucks for a Venti caramel frappe. Now I know I took a pic of this, but it seems to have got lost in a sea of frappe and food pics. But we all know what a giant frappe looks like... Giant. Andrew finally got his five guys today and had to go for a bacon double cheeseburger. $9.73 with a regular fries $4.69. For you people who don't know why it has to be this menu choice, prepare to have your mind blown. After buying a suitcase worth of souvenirs, literally, we caught an Uber back to the villa. We hopped across to Disney Springs in the evening and went for Earl of Sandwich. Ihad the holiday turkey $6.99 with potato salad $2.59 Andrew had the Tuna Melt, 6.99 with mac and cheese, 4.99 which never actually got eaten btw. we both ordered a regular fountain drink and took advantage of the free kettle chips that came with them, which also didn't get eaten. Then it was time for home and some much needed sleep. |

Day 9- Fairfax Fare and 50s Prime time
e loved Hollywood Studios so much, that we decided to have a return visit, although we started quite a bit later in the day. 12pm to be exact and after the thanksgiving week, the wait times were surprisingly low today.
For lunch, we stopped at the Fairfax fare, near ToT (yes we actually did it). I had the pulled pork sandwich $11.49 And Andrew ordered the loaded potato $9.49 We split these in half and swapped to try both each. We also had a little bit of disney magic for our Anniversary and were given these awesome peppermint holiday cupcakes. After wandering around and needing to go to Guest relations, as Andrew had lost his magic band on the aerosmith roller coaster (don't ask, I don't know either) I decided to check to see if there were any spots available in 50s prime time cafe. As luck would have it, there was an opening in 40 minutes, so off we went. I have to say, I know people have had great interaction here and I don't know if our faces were saying back off, but we really missed that here, although we could see it happening alot at tables with kids. I forgot pics here, so have stolen from the ever faithful google. I had the Pork Chop $25 Andrew had the Pot Roast $21 he also decided he had to have the light up Buzz so we had him $7 whilst I had a strawberry milkshake $6 We also made the mistake of ordering dessert even though we were pretty full. I ordered the Apple Cobbler $8 and Andrew had the ice cream sundae $5.50. We very quickly realised our mistake as that Sundae was HUGE. Andrew had a very weak effort and I didn't get close to finishing my cobbler either. Total: 77.22 inc tax |

Day 10- Caseys Hotdogs, Harbour House and MVMCP
We had another late start today as we knew we had a long night with the MVMCP.
Also, I had come down with a cold that was draining every ounce of strength I had. But that wasn't going to stop us. Andrew had some toast before we left the house, but I wasn't in the mood so grabbed a hotdog from Caseys hotdog later in the. This is the BBQ slaw dog foot long at $12.29. It was huge and I didn't actually expect it to come with fries included. Pretty tasty though. Andrew got hungry later in the evening so we ventured into the harbour house again where he had the chicken pot pie... again. We asked for this with fries and then broccoli as an extra side, but what we got was broccoli with a side of fries and extra broccoli. I mean I love broccoli, but I couldn't eat all this after that hotdog a few hours ago. When the celebrations kicked off, we secured a spot in tomorrowland for the totally tomorrowland xmas. Stitch trumps Mickey for me. The lunch pad here had the free hot chocolate and peppermint bark so I grabbed me one of those. The hot chocolate portions are pretty minute, but I guess it doesn't matter if you can keep going up. I had another caramel frappe at about 11pm whilst waiting for the parade an then that was us done for another night. We really enjoyed the xmas party and would probably do it again. We didn't meet any characters as you would basically be waiting in line all night for one character, but the shows were great. I can't compare the fireworks to the normal wishes though as I have still yet to see them. |

Day 11- Mega Breakfast and Olive Garden
We were supposed to be going to Epcot today, but after the Xmas party the night before, we decided that would be a great way to end our Disney experience this holiday.
It was a good job really as I was feeling really rough this morning and my voice had almost gone. We were moving to HRH the next day so I made a mega breakfast to try and use up some of the stuff we had left. It was ginormous. I didn't even get halfway through, but Andrew polished off the lot. We stayed home, rearranged the suitcases to try to get things to fit and enjoyed the pool for one more day. In the evening, we Uber'd to Bahama Breeze, but they were shut because of some toilet issues so we went over to Olive Garden instead. We ordered the Five Italian Fonduta $8.99 Which was beautiful but we didn't realise them mains came with a choice of soup or salad as well as these gorgeous bread sticks They were so fresh, but a little salty. Andrew ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Carbonara $18.79 with the Zuppa Toscana Soup And I had the Shrimp Scampi $16.29 with the chicken and Gnocchi soup Needless to say that, yet again, we had bitten off more than we could chew, but there wasn't even any point in getting it boxed up. You should have seen the disgusted look our server gave us when we said we didn't want to take it with us. Ahh how the other country live. You usually get that look in the UK when you actually ask for a box to take it away in The total was $52.92 inc tax and it was worth every penny |

Day 12- Toothsome and Bubba Gumps
Finally, I am all up to date. Which is sad when I realise that it is day 12 and so close to the end.
The holiday blues coupled with this horrible cold are really getting me down. It's that bad, I actually looked like a crazy woman carrying around a roll of tissue so I wouldn't run out. But I will not let it win. I can be ill anytime. I can only be here once every two years. I AM NOT WASTING THIS. Anyway, after that little diversion, today we checked into the HRH. That meant no time for breakfast or even a coffee this morning as I wasn't going to clean everything I had already tidied away. Once we had checked into the HRH, we took the water ferry to City Walk. We didn't need to do this as the hotel is so close, but Andrew loves boats of any kind.. so easy choice. I had heard great things about the toothsome shakes that it was on my list to try. Have you seen how huge their menu is? The server did say that were looking at redoing it. I had the strawberry cheesecake shake $12.50 Andrew had coke $3.29 and Dad had two Southern comforts on the rocks $9.50 each. I ordered the broccoli quiche for main, which came with a soup $10.95. I was hoping it would be light as that shake was epic. I managed the soup, but palmed the quiche onto Dad as he hadn't actually ordered anything. Andrew ordered the May Contain Bacon Burger $15.50 I wasn't overly impressed with the food here for the price, but I guess thats not what the specialise in. The shake? Awesome and a total of $65.23 inc tax After a long day hauling our ill butts around US, we landed at Bubba Gumps for tea. I had the Landrys Card loaded with $25, but we didn't really need it for priority as there was no queue. I ordered the anniversary Strawberry Mango chiller $6.22 Dad had the 20oz Bud x2 $24.48 Andrew ordered the Blue Lagoon $9.49 but hated it so our server really kinldy swapped it for a coke and took it off our bill Dad suddenly decided he didn't like prawns, or shellfish of any kind so told em to pick his menu choice. I picked the Jennys Choice which was Tilapia in a lobster Butter with spinach and Mash $12.47. It wouldn't be anything like he would normally ordered as it's way too healthy, but he loved it and polished off the plate Score one for me Andrew had the BBQ cheeseburger $8.42 I had the shrimpers heaven $14.33 Now here is where I think I am getting old, or tight, or both. Don't get me wrong, the food was nice. But, bear in mind the prices quoted were with the $25 already taken off, which I had already loaded into the card, the total would have been $95.22 inc tax and excluding tip. For what we had, I find that pretty steep and I know that you get souvenir glasses, but we didn't actually want these anyway, we just wanted the drinks. It just felt a bit much. Yes, all up to date. Andrew is sleeping, Dad is in the bar and I am still full of cold. But tomorrow is another day and, unfortunately, our last full day in Orlando. |

Day 13- Dennys and Hard Rock Cafe
Today was our last full day in this most amazing of places and I've noticed I've been a little critical when really it's not that bad.
Andrew stayed in bed today whilst me and Dad went shopping for Dads souvenir haul. Our first stop was Dennys to get some proper coffee. Dad had the american slam (again) 10.99 I wanted something lighter so I chose the banana, caramel pancakes. Another mistake as, even though the picture shows one plate, it came out on two and my jaw nearly hit the floor All this for ten bucks. And it was pretty tasty, although there was no way I was going to finish it. Me and Dad made our way over to the premium outlets and to the disney warehouse shop after I had convinced him that it was better quality and still cheaper than the I-drive shops. $72 later, we headed back to the hotel. Andrew had gotten up only half hour before we arrived back at the room the lazy so and so. We chilled for an hour, rearranged some suitcases and off we went to Islands of adventure. To be continued |
