Yes that's very odd - I didn't check that far ahead. As chmurf suggests though drop Andy a note through his web site. He's very helpful.

We are doing it in September going through Andy and he emailed to say that Alamo had now brought in the $160 one way rental fee going from Port Canaveral to the airport.

Alamo don't charge a one way drop fee apart from the Port Canaveral route. Even that is only for the one part of the trip not the other.

However for donkeys years you can get cheaper prices or indeed more expensive prices by using different airports or facilities.

Just as an example a three week hire MCO and back to MCO may be cheaper or dearer than the same duration from Miami or Fort Myers etc.
All down to supply and demand.

Always play about before committing.

This year we have a pickup in TPA and drop off at MCO with Avis and there was no additional charge. We have done pickup in Vegas and drop off in San Fran before which cost a small fortune in extras but it is a very long way! It was a pleasant surprise for not having to pay any extra.

That West Coast trip with Virgin car hire wouldn't have attracted extra fees.
California, Arizona and Nevada are all within the same price frame

The price is based on the start location so MCO to MCO and MCO to TPA should be the same price. If you want to send me a quick email and I'll double check as the website doesn't like handling the one way rentals.

Good to know for next year (hopefully), thanks, I think we went with National before.
