Mandy - New nic cage movie - OSCAR WORTHY!*

i posted this to the greatest movie thread, but thought it needed more of an audience...

i think i saw one of the greatest movies ever made last weekend.

MANDY. the new nic cage film. its like dario argento remade hellraiser starring a chunky john wick (nic cage)

seriously, i've not enjoyed a film this much in a while. it's definitely not for everyone, but if you've seen vampires kiss, and want MAXIMUM TURBO CAGE in a genuinely great movie, this is for you. it's billed as a horror, but apart from a few gory bits, it's not very scary.

if you get the opportunity, go see it!

*it will never get nominated for an oscar, its just not that sort of movie, but performance-wise, its up there with leaving las vegas...

if you arent intrigued and feeling it after the first 10 mins, come back to it another time... you definitely have to be in the right mood for this. but if you are, you'll be blown away!

Cool

Old thread but just watched ‘Mandy’.

That is one bonkers film, bizarre and compelling at the same time.

Do you think the actors got sick of being bathed in red and green lights?

Mental, but memorable.

How does someone who started out on Coronation Street become a sadistic Charles Manson type psychedelic psychopath?

Hmmm, we gave it a go as my husband loves both Hellraiser and Jon Wick, but we just couldn't get in to it at all. Found it very slow going, so turned off after about 30-40 minutes.

It is definately not for everybody that's for sure! First half is slow moving, concentrating on Mandy. After Nick Cage starts screaming in his underpants whilst dousing himself with a bottle of vodka whilst sat on a toilet- it definately speeds up after that point. He then forges himself a giant shiny axe, and picks up a large crossbow .

Yeah, that's what we were waiting for - the Jon Wick on steriods style action! It just felt like it was never going to come and we were getting bored with the Mandy/cult bit
