I’m looking at doing a split stay next year with Anaheim, how long do you need in San Diego, want to do the zoo, la jolla a city tour as my main things to do.

Hi Jo. If your time is limited, I would plan 3 days to cover all the things you want to do- but if you have more time to spare, maybe 4-5 days would be better because San Diego is so nice and you might want to stay longer

We stayed 8 nights and could have stayed longer!

We are thinking 5 in San Diego, 5 in Anaheim

This is really difficult. We loved San Diego and as it is clearly a city, this is remarkable in our case.

Off the top of my head, essentials would be..
Balboa park (with Zoo) is worth at least a day.
Seaworld (different vibe to Orlando).
Downtown with USS Midway, Harbour tour and also Top gun bar.
Coronado beach
Whale watching.

Secondary to this..
A walk to the Mexican border at Tijuana where it meets the sea.
la Jolla Scripps.
Oceanside and the Topgun house.

It truly is a remarkable place!
