Tipping the room attendants

We usually stay in condo's while in Vegas so do our own 'tidying up' but this time we're staying in hotels while there (3 different ones) and I'm wondering what the 'policy' is on tipping? Do you tip at the end of the stay or a little each day? And do you leave the very first tip on the first day before the room has even been cleaned or wait until the following morning? Also roughly how much?

Leave a little each day, $2 to $3, would be unfair on your regular maid if it was her day off when you checked out and the relief maid got all of the tip.

There are two of us and we leave $3 per day. Yes leave the first full day you are there ready for the person cleaning that day. Housekeeping can and does change daily so always each day.

You don’t have to tip the housekeeping. It’s optional, some do, some don’t. If I have small bills I leave $2 and a thank you note on the bed. If I don’t have small bills I don’t sweat it. On our last night I leave $5 because we leave behind shoe boxes, empty shopping bags, a cheap cooler and give the housekeeper some extra work.

Thats what we do. The amount is obviously up to you.Sometimes if I mention I like the body lotion and lots of big towels and they leave extra, I tip a bit extra... probably why they do it. I know another couple who tip $5 per day but we stick with $3 for just 2 of us and we are very tidy. lol I tidy up for the housekeeping to come lol

I agree its optional... but for what it costs we do. Up to each person to decide. I print out little thank you notes before I go and leave it with the cash.

Same here, I do my best to do it too but unlike, say, stiffing a waiter or a baggage handler which I would never do, if I don’t have small bills I don’t worry too much about it. I have also found they won’t take the money unless you make it very obvious it’s a tip, which is why I leave the note now.
