Now I know what it means, how do I become unwoke again?
Edit - It seems I’ve become woke against my will, which conflicts with my snowflake instincts- surely this has compromised my human rights. Not sure whether to be offended or not!🤣 Edited at 10:27 AM. |

The problem arises when a term being used by one group becomes an term of insult by another group.
Woke I am woke therefore I am aware of social issues and how they affect people particalarly when it comes to racism. You are woke therefore we see you as a band wagon jumping on liberal who has never been affected by racism in their life. |

I agree 'woke' is a strange term, and not one that I use, but being 'woke', at the core of its definition, is a good thing. We should all be socially conscious. I guess there is a case of people who used the term woke being overly preachy, which is where the insults began.
It's become like 'political correctness' - a good thing, but morphed into an insult by those who do want to change their ways/don't want it forced on them.

I had been in the organisation so long I could get away with a lot. Please don't try it!
Probably my best was when the very top Boss was trying to load a big project on to me even though I was drowning in work. It was in a board meeting of maybe 30 people. I told him I physically couldn't take on more projects without dumping some existing ones. He replied that he was sure I had capacity. My response that I couldn't was met with a death stare. So I followed it up with the fact that it was not possible, the same as I couldn't fart the whole of the Nokia ringtone. That was met with 30 people laughing and him scowling at me!

Yes I knew holistic, having worked in the NHS for 30 plus years. I suppose being retired these words are no longer in my vocabulary
Tom, I remember sitting in a meeting with a multidisciplinary team, when the chair said. “ we are flying by the seat of our pants” and later “ let’s deep dive”. Corporate speak is probably the worst |
