When questioning what is in a parcel or hidden in a bag - being told it was "A wigwam to wind the sun up with"

"A face that only a mother could love" (someone not blessed with good looks)

"Look like they've been dragged through a hedge backwards" (someone with unkempt hair or clothing)

My granny always used to predict things that would happen in the future, saying "maybe not in my lifetime ..." - it's quite scary how much has come true since she passed, eg mobile phones, lottery win!

If we had done something wrong and said we'd thought it was right

Well, you know what thought thought...
Thought thought his erse was sticking out the bed so he got out to shove it back in!

My mother always told me that Ice cream vans sold hot pies in Winter not ice cream
I passed this on to my son too
It always makes us laugh now
