Car seat or booster for 7yr old?
Hi all,
My daughter will be 7 when we go in July. Do you recommend taking a full car seat with harness or just a booster seat? Our car seats have isofix but they are quite heavy to transport around |

This is the law in Florida, so it’s really down to your personal preference. I took as booster when my daughter was 6 but this year she will be 8 and we aren’t taking one (I must add she’s also very tall for her age).
What Are Florida’s Car Seat Laws? Florida’s car seat laws require children to use car seats through age 5. Between the ages of 0-3, children must either use a full, separate car seat or a car seat that’s integrated with the car. Between the ages of 4-5, the child must use a booster seat, a full car seat or a car seat that’s integrated with the vehicle. Between the ages of 6-17, children must wear a seatbelt. Car seat laws in Florida depend on the age of the child. Even if the child is very tall or short, the rule that applies to them is based on their age. There are no exceptions to car seat laws when children are above or below average for their height. |

depending on how tall your daughter is, and how comfortable you are with her not having a booster seat, you're not required to have one, as long as she can buckle up and wear the seatbelt like an adult would (correctly resting on her shoulder without "strangling" her)
if she can't wear the belt safely, then you will ,need to use a booster seat if it's just a matter of height, then a simple booster will do, no need for the bulky high back but at the end of the day, it's about how comfortable you are with letting her ride with, or without a booster seat, or a high back just know that you are not required to have one if she's tall enough for the belt |

thanks for the replies. Not sure I'd be happy with just the seat belt. I think I should be able to get a booster in my main luggage at will probably leave it behind when we come back.
Again thanks for the replies. Pretty sure I'll have lots more before we go! |

Depending on who you fly with, you can generally take a booster seat for free (in the hold).
