Do you think I came down the Clyde on a water biscuit/banana skin?! I'm not stupid!

As well as getting told about starving children in Africa if I didn't want what was served up for dinner, that was also trotted out if I dared ask for extra!

I want, doesn't get!

Didn't she try telling you that if they were playing the music they were all out of ice cream!?

Oh, and I'm old enough that I could still be sent to the ice cream van with a note to get 10 JPS for my mum - when I was about 9 or 10!

Another reminder from the past but is probably a local one, my Dad always used to say...

Do you think I just sailed up the Mersey on the last banana boat?

No idea what that meant.

Whenever I asked where we were going on holiday me dad used to say either

Morry Camby (Morecambe)
Ourgate
Stopatome or about 10 others.

Also

Corporation Pop ..tap water

Well I'll go to top of our stairs

Blue sky oer Bill's mothers

When ever I asked if he knew somebody he'd always say

"No but I had a sister in the Wrens" ? Yeah me neither!

Whenever I said "what you laughing at dad" he'd say

"Fun I had last Christmas!"

"Soft Mick"..never knew who he was

"Our Peg" for me mum who's name wasn't Peg

Loads more... great thread..happy days

We say that in Scotland but it’s sailed up the Clyde rather than the Mersey!
