Mobile Security deposit

Intermediate SUV from Alamo

At autoeurope.co.uk have $100 deposit

At rentalcars.com have $300 deposit

How does it work? Do they have different agreements with Alamo?

Every supplier has a different contract with Alamo and indeed all the rental car companies.

However, can you explain more about the 'deposit' please. Do you mean a hold placed on your Card?

If so I have never had one applied albeit some people have reported they have.
It will be the car rental company that decides it more so than the 3rd party supplier.

Is this what you mean?

I've hired Alamo through either Brits or DFCH seven times in the last four years and never been aware of even a hold put on my CC let alone a deposit.

Some evidence suggests they might put a "test" $1 on the card to check its validity but if they do it doesn't stay long. We check both current accounts and CC statements daily over there and there's never been a significant pending amount.

If your quotes include CDW with no excess as they should through most reputable UK brokers then you should not be leaving any "deposit"

Yes itís the hold placed on card. When I rented last year it said Ď The car hire company will not require a deposit when you pick your car upĎ but this year itís $300 with carentals.com and $100 with autoeurope. The rental cost is £10 cheaper on carentals.com but the deposit is higher. So not sure whatís better option in this case?

To be honest as long as you have the funds it matters not as you will get it 'released' once the car is returned.

I can only confirm what 99% of us on here experience namely no holds applied.

I don't think I have had any hold applied since Dollar way back in the late 90's and I rent 3 or 4 times a year out there.

By the way I have 3 Auto Europe bookings for this year and none say anything about a hold.
