Hello from a very soggy Orlando!

We left off in the airport lounge. Around midday they swapped the breakfast over to lunch and served chilli con carne, rice and nachos plus cheeses and salads.

We didn’t have any, but I’d say the lunch offering was much better than breakfast.

We were flying Premium with VA and we’re on the 1.25pm service from Manchester.

We were quickly offered water, OJ or prosecco when we boarded.

I’d made DH and I a snack bag with some treats in so also made one for the crew which I gave them as they handed the menus out.

We were given our choice of drinks and those little bbq nibbles which I quickly passed onto DH. I much preferred the sour cream pretzels they used to give you!

We had pre-selected our meals, Mac and cheese for DH and the breaded chicken for me.

I loved the little salad that came as a starter. The hummus was really flavourful and could have eaten a whole bowl of that.

Unfortunately, DH said his Mac and cheese was dry and not very cheesy. He wouldn’t recommend it.

I enjoyed the flavour of my meal, the cabbage in sauce was nice and the breading on the chicken was quite thin, but the chicken itself was so tough. It was really difficult to cut through despite having the ‘proper’ little knives and forks they give you in premium.

Not sure if I was just unlucky, but I perhaps wouldn’t choose the chicken again.

There was a little lemon cheesecake for dessert. DH ate his and said it was very lemony. I offered him mine which he accepted at first but half was through eating his own said it was too sweet and declined it.

He did eat both of our cheese and biscuits which he enjoyed with crackers.

They brought around tea and coffee and it was no trouble just getting a mug of boiling water. I made myself a peppermint tea with honey which helped my stomach which usually is in knots on flights.

I took a photo of the wonderwall snacks for you although we didn’t try any so I can’t comment on them.

They brought around the most disgusting iced lolly half way through the flight. It said on the packet it contained secret veg, there was nothing secret about it. It wasn’t sweet at all and quite a few people on the flight left them.

We did eat some chilli crackers and Pringles we had brought ourselves with us and I also had some star burst, a small packet of muchies and a dime bar. Yum.

The flight was good, we hit some patches of turbulence but nothing too bad and we managed to keep ourselves occupied despite the poor choice of films.

Just before the afternoon picnic / tea was served, DH and I started watching a documentary about guide dogs. The saddest part where someone had retired their dog and was giving it up for rehoming came on just as the cabin crew came to take our order. I had tears running down my face much to his concern. I had to explain it was just the tv programme and I was fine…. How embarrassing!

Anyway, we both chose the afternoon picnic and had the last two trays of that despite there being 4 rows still to serve behind us.

The sandwiches were lovely, big chunks of chicken and the bread had an almost sweet taste.

I gave the fish muffin to DH and he said I wouldn’t have liked it as it was very fishy despite being small.

The quiche was lovely, no chunks of bacon, but it was flavoured beautifully. A nice change to the normal afternoon tea offered.

The scone was warm and lovely too.

We were soon landing, and when we did we signed into the MPC app and took a selfie so we could head to the right queue.

It was clearly labelled as A and there was only one couple ahead of us.

The officer asked me to stand in front of the camera and asked what food we had with us and then sent us on our way.

We waited quite some time for our bags, premium cabin bags were meant to come on carousel 4 and the others on 3, but in reality one one bag came out on 4 and the other three came out on 3.

We bought straps to attach our cabin cases to our bigs ones so we were soon away with 4 large cases,2 cabin cases, 2 rucksacks and a large tote bag with 5 x 1l bottles of water.

We picked up our toll pass then headed for the Alamo garage. We booked compact SUV through DFCH, and were shown to mid size as they don’t do compact.

There were around 8 cars to choose from, 3 were pick ups which we ruled out straight away. We chose the biggest car of the bunch a silver Ford edge I think.

It took 25 mins to get from the airport to POFQ. We parked up and walked to check in leaving our bags in the car as it was drizzling.

We have been given a room in block 5 and have a river view.

We had to move the car as had parked in check in parking. Unfortunately it had started absolutely pouring it down and didn’t really stop for the rest of the evening.

We got absolutely drenched carrying our cases to the room despite wearing our rain macs.

We unpacked and were on the bus to Disney Springs at 8.38pm.

We headed for Blaze Pizza our first night tradition.

We both choose create your own plus a cheesy garlic bread, bottle of blue moon for DH and a lemonade for me.

Total came to $45.90 and we used our dining credit which had been emailed to us in two vouchers ($1000 and $300).

It was extremely busy in blaze but we found two seats sharing a table with an English couple.

Our pizzas didn’t take too long to come out.

DH had buffalo glaze on his and said it was extremely hot -

I chose red sauce, mozzarella, chicken, red onion, peppers, mushroom and basil with bbq glaze and it was delicious.

Our garlic bread took an age to come out, we were half way through our pizzas and DH had actually gone and got a pint of Samuel Adams in the mean time - $10.65.

Unfortunately we only ate two slices of the garlic bread as we’re so full so brought the rest home in a box along with two slices of my pizza.

We caught the bus back to POFQ knowing the boats wouldn’t be running the in rain.

Despite getting back around 10.10pm the food court was still open and so we picked up our refillable mugs, one each for $46.84.

I had a hot chocolate and DH had a tea and we came back to the room and passed out!

The beds are very comfortable.

I’ve woken up with cramp in my legs so decided to sit up and write up travel day then I’ll try to get back to sleep. It’s 2.22am here now.

Overall a really great travel day. The food on the flight was average at best, but we got here safely and despite the weather and the complete wash out of our first evening I’m very pleased to be back.

We started with $1300 dining credit and now have $1196.61 left.

We’re off to the Magic Kingdom in the morning then it’s outlet shopping and maybe Texas Roashouse for tea.

Thanks for reading!

Day 1, part 1

We slept quite well considering the time we went to bed last night.

We were up at 5.00am and taking a leaf out of Lisa and Marie’s book we had our first of two breakfasts of the day.

The first was leftover pizza and garlic bread from Blaze last night. Who knew you needed cheesy garlicky goodness that early in the morning 😂

We got ready and I managed to grab queue number 19 for Tiana’s at 7am.

We then headed to the Magic Kingdom on the 7.14am bus. We queued around 25 minutes for the park to open.

When it did we stopped for a photo on Main Street before heading to Starbucks for our first of the trip.

A strawberry acai refresher for me and a latte for DH.

These came to $12.33.

We headed to the seats outside Casey’s corner and just sat and drank our drinks listening to the music. It was absolute bliss.

We rode Buzz and the people mover before heading to Gaston’s for a creme brûlée croissant to share.

This came to $5.63.

Wow, it was delicious! It was filled with vanilla custard and to top was nice and crunchy. An excellent snack and shareable too.

Next up we headed to Tianas where we walked right onto the ride sitting in the front row and getting absolutely drenched!

We also rode Big Thunder and Haunted mansion before our LL for Tron. Wow that ride is fast! We sat in the seats rather than the bikes and so glad we did it sure we’d have coped leaning down.

The longest we waited all day was 40 minutes for Haunted Mansion and despite not being a party day, it seemed quiet in the park.

When we came off we picked up a Watermelon slishy from the car outside Tron.

This was $6.91 and it was very small for the price. It was tasty and the popping candy right at the bottom was a novelty, but it wasn’t worth the price. A one and done for us.

That’s it for Magic Kingdo today. We did bump into two sets of YouTubers we watch - Ade and Lisa and Sam and Keira - both were happy to have a quick chat and were friendly.

We have made it back to the room and we’re currently hiding out from the rain 🤨

The plan is Vineland outlets for Chinese at the food court, take a look at the character warehouse and then head to Target for supplies.

Total dining credit left - $1171.74

We were planning Texas Roadhouse later but have decided to see what the weather does and if it stays dry we may head to Disney Springs instead.

Will fill you in later.

Thanks for reading 👋

Oos that creme brûlée pastry looks amazing. I hope it’s not a special edition, hopefully a permanent item 🤞🤞

What a fabulous start. Omg you had cold pizza and garlic bread at what time! That is total madness 🤪

The creme brulee croissant sounds amazing. I think I could eat my body weight in custard 😆

To be fair, we’ve not had cold pizza for first breakfast although we could have this morning 😂.
