Indirect flights.

Hi there,
Where flying to Tampa in July.

Our flights are Manchester to Atlanta (virgin Airways)
with 1 hour 25 min stop over.
Then Atlanta to Tampa (Delta Airlines).

And then reverse on way back.
My question is will our baggage be booked all the way through from Manchester to Tampa. We did book the flights all as one journey and chose not to fly direct because of the money we saved. I'm just worried if we had to collect our luggage at Atlanta it wouldn't leave us much time to check in for the Tampa flight.

Thank you
Steve

Yes you do have to collect your baggage on your outward journey, to go through customs then you drop them off again, but it will go straight through on your journey home.

However, 1.25hrs in my opinion is cutting it to fine. Any delay on your outward journey and you wont have enough time to catch your onward flight. I would always look for a minimum of 2.5hr layover but much prefer 3+hrs.

Yes you will have to collect bags outward. We had a terrible time with united in July with plane an hour late leaving from Edinburgh to newark. Did catch the onward flight but really touch and go and very stressful at the time. Your stopover time must be considered doable by work airline but not a lot of leeway for delays.

As with the other comments, I believe that your outbound layover is cutting it very fine/too fine.

Last year, I was through Atlanta with Delta, onward bound to Pensacola. I originally had a 2 hr 40 layover but, due to schedule changes, this was changed to 1 hr 35.

I made contact and voiced my concern. At no cost, they moved me to a later spoke flight that got me back to, I think, 3 hrs 15.

I would suggest that it may be worth pushing the same concerns, flights from Atlanta to Tampa are in probability, very frequent.

I was needless to say very pleased with Deltas flexibility and customer service.
