Sorry but the restaurant really can't tell you how to spend your Dining Plan credits!? I guess if the kids were over 10 they could refuse them a kids meal but we have never come across this in any Disney restaurant, my teenage daughter often orders a kids meal and no-one has ever batted an eye.
Yes only restaurant they wouldn't let the kids 11,13 order off the kids menu oop, and save the credits. My colleague was very unhappy. I didn’t say the restaurant was dictating how credits were spent.

I have a small appetite as well as some dietary restrictions. I have often ordered either a child's meal or just an appetizer. I look my 65 years and it has never been questioned. I do not do a dining plan.

I would ask about a vegetarian option or you DD is old enough to stay in the room and take care of herself with a CS or room service meal.
