Haha chmurf, great amount of info there and thanks for that and all others replies and thoughts from others as well.
Seems the general consensus is to not take out any plans (if you did not get them free) and "pay as you go". |

I shall buck the trend.
I have not done a financial comparison of DDP versus paying as you go. And do not find it hard to imagine that somebody could do it cheaper under pay as you go. However if I did miss booking in the free dining period, I would almost certainly pay to add on the plan anyway. This would be to get that expense out of the way, locked into a particular exchange rate (yes I know it can go either way) and so that I don’t feel like I am managing a budget or wondering if I am spending too much whilst on holiday. Instead I can just pick and choose whatever I want. |

Each to their own Bridget and can see your rationale for doing that. At the end of the day, both plans and pay as you go eat more or less at the same places, quick dining anyway. Been reading a lot about these credits and using them up etc and just wonder by paying as you go is a lot simpler.
My gut feel is that in 8 months time the exchange rate will become more favourable (its slowly easing after Brexit), and will get more from the dollar. |
