Flew with them last year. We had one of the planes with no seat back IFE, just the screen down the centre aisle but it was no bother, just reminded me of the old days. The air stewardess was fantastic, I would say in her 60's and got all our spirits up by having a group chat with the back section of the plane. I would definitely fly with them again, in fact we are this year.

Flew to New York with them last October. Entertainment disappointing but no other issues.

Good to read this post, I'm flying with them at the end of November.
Dub-PHL-MCO.

On an A330, got a bit worried when I looked for reviews and seen a flight from Dub using the a plane with no IFE on the back of the seats.

But I think as long as it remains an A330 it will have seat back entertainment.

Glad everyone seems to have a positive review on them

OP who did you book with ?

I have several AA flights, booked through AA, and have been able to prebook seats FOC
most seats can be selected for a fee, but the seats at the back are free to choose from

so unless you booked as a codeshare, or booked a restricted fare, or left it too late and plane is already full, you should be able to prebook seats.

ETA : just checked some of my trips
for next august, flying on a 777 to MIA there are just a couple of seats left that can be prebooked for free. Many options if I'm willing to pay though ($149pp per leg for a front of the plane seat, thank you but no thanks, lol)

so free seats definitely go fast.

Same with me, I'm flying in to Miami on American, and have been given decent seats next to each other, but the flight is showing quite empty at the moment.

As for the service, AA is great, some of our best flights have come on AA metal!

I'm pretty sure the Dub-jfk is the only route using planes with no seat back ife
we booked a ba codeshare in sept had no problem choosing our seats online then our second flight was changed to a later time (7 hour total layover originally 3) ba changed flight (at no cost to different route )but seats were now pre allocated with no option to change
rang AA and got seats all together
