We flew to China with BA but all internal flights were with Air China.
Food not really necessary for short flights but reasonable.
Issue was lack of respect from the Chinese passengers to crew. On phones, would not sit down and on entering plane they put there luggage in overhead straight away then sit at back on plane. We had no overhead had to leave my bags 20-30 rows behind a nightmare when getting off. Those at back just straight to front and gab their bags leaving you struggling to fight your way to the back and unable to monitor your luggage, so lock it up or have a lock available.

Our friends used them for return flights to New Zealand - but business class as it was half the price of any other airline. Included a stopover at 5 star hotel, and they said it was excellent, every aspect.
Accepted might not be so good in the back.

I got back from my 2 week trip to China and Japan last week. We were scheduled on an Air China flight on Sunday October 22 from Beijing to Tokyo which was cancelled due to Typhoon Lan. It took awhile for the airline to send us someone to help - we were left sitting at the gate with no info. Once they came, they helped us back thru immigration (line cutting), to get our bags and to the counter to get rebooked on another flight. I finally got out early in the am on Wednesday Oct 25 and the flight was no problem. The food was fine - my sister's special meal was not delivered but that was probably because we were rebooked on that flight (she's lactose intolerant). The plane was nice and we had no issues. It was a 2.5 hour flight. I would probably fly them again - we choose them because of the reasonable cost. I ended up spending about $2400 on all the flights on this trip (just for myself), so as much as I wanted to try ANA, it was going to be about $100 more.

Air China was recommended to me on the Flyer Talk message boards because - as someone pointed out - they are the national airline and would get clearance to fly out before others if needed. The smog wasn't that bad when we were there, but they were just finishing up their national convention/meetings for their government, so apparently the factories were "turned off."

Hello
I flew from the UK with Air China in the last couple of weeks and my experience was this...
I had a great experience with them, on time flights, friendly staff and the food (especially outbound) was good, however I would still take lots of snacks onboard as it's a long flight!
The flight tickets were a great price and I would not hesitate to fly with them again

brilliant, thank you for that, at the minute it is looking like Air China, as they are still the cheapest, just not quite cheap enough for me
Hoping for some sales at Christmas
