BA- unable to print boarding passes

So we fly tomorrow. All checked in but df and I can’t print off boarding passes for the London to Orlando flight. Our edinburgh flight is fine.

I’m assuming this is extra security checks rather than a problem, ds (11) is fine but he’s a bit young to jet off to Orlando on his own...

Slight panic as this has never happened before.

Someone posted something on another thread saying this can impact on your luggage being booked right through, has anyone actually experienced this?

If it let you check in, highly likely to be additional security checks (if you see the letters SSSS anywhere on the boarding passes you eventually get, it’s definitely that). If it’s any comfort, I have Global Entry and visit the US multiple times per year, but I still randomly get SSSS on some flights to the US. It’s just part of the security strategy and usually nothing to worry about.

It should not impact the through checking of luggage, since the necessary checks should be completed at EDI (though you might get secondary security at the gate in London). It can sometimes impact any TSA-Pre entitlement for domestic connections in the US (sometimes solved by a reprint at the US gateway), but doesn’t sound like you have one of those.

We had the same last May from Edinburgh but sorted at check-in at Edinburgh and luggage booked through no problem. They just checked our passports, ETSA's and filled in a few details on the computer and we were good to go. Just make sure you see a person rather than trying to do the self-check in but plenty of staff about to help normally.

Don't panic and have a great holiday

Sounds like secondary security.
We have experienced this a few times. Just arrive at the airport an hour earlier than you had planned.
We have never experienced any issues with bags on indirect han this has happened. But maybe there are different aspects to this and some are impacted in this way. Not sure.

Thanks everyone.

All our paperwork is done and up to date. So used to everything being straightforward.

Planning to get to Edinburgh 2.5 hours before the flight to London anyway. I’m assuming that should be enough time?

That will be plenty of time.

My husband had this last year. It didn’t effect the luggage but he had more intense security checks in London . When we got to the gate for boarding he had extra screening of shoes, luggage, they took batteries out of phone etc and swabbed. On the plus side they upgraded us!

It is indeed enhanced security. Plus side boarding passes printed at Edinburgh and luggage going straight through.

No upgrade though.
