Joiner fitted doors
Hi,
I've got a joiner calling round tonight to quote me for supplying and fitting four 4/6 panel gloss white doors (I have the door handles) . How much have others paid for this kind of job and how long should it take? |

I was going to get new doors and bannister a couple of years ago but we decided against it (long story! ) I think it was about £30 a door to fit plus the cost of the door and handles. Tried to look up the quote he sent me but must have deleted it when we decided against it. I'm pretty sure 12 doors, handles, fitting plus bannister, spindles and newel posts in oak was around £3k.
As ever we live in the south and I know from other "building type" threads this may be considered expensive by people who live north of Watford!

We've had two joiners come and view similar jobs - 12 doors and a new front door. Neither have bothered getting back to us with quotes. Soooo annoying. Why come and look if not interested in the job ! Rant over and sorry to interrupt.

My dh used to be a carpenter/joiner. He'd chard £30 per door it all materials were supplied. For 6 doors id say about 1 day. It really depends how fast he works.

My MIL had new internal doors fitted about 3 years ago and the guy charged her £25 per door (she bought doors, handles and new hinges) but being a tight pensioner she will always negotiate for cash - she lives in Nuneaton.

Its a real pain isn't it, a plumber did that to me for our ensuite, just say you are too busy or not interested would be better than just not getting back. I won't recommend him to anyone else now even though he came highly recommended to me!
