New york hotels just outsideManhatten?

Can anyone tell me the best borough or hotel to stay to commute into Manhattan IE Bronx, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Queens. A hotel very near to sub station so can jump straight on to underground please. Have been to New York a number of times so decided on 3 nights before flying down to Orlando to keep costs down thought about staying just outside of Manhatten manmy thanks

We stayed at the hotel indigo in Williamsburg Brooklyn
Subway is right on the street corner and most tourist spots were one change and about half an hour travelling
It was nice and new but we didn’t eat there as there were cheap eateries in the area

We stayed at Home2 Suites in Long Island City. Two minutes from room to platform. The hotel was lovely - free breakfast and a mini kitchen.

Another option is Hoboken over in New Jersey. The PATH train goes straight to the World Trade Centre all the way up to 33rd St.
A really charming town, also where the original Carlos Bakery can be found

We stayed in the Nesva hotel, just passed the Home2 suites.
The subway is so convenient & would definitely stay in that area again, rather than pay the price to stay in Manhattan.

We stayed at the County Inn & Suites, Queens. 3 minutes from subway and 2 stops to Bloomingdales over the river, then on to Central Park. Overground line to there with great views.

Expensive ... as it’s trendy.

We once stayed out in New Jersey as we had a group with some people on a really tight budget.
It was amazingly easy , bus from outside the hotel to the Port Authority took less than half an hour even in the snow and buses ran into the wee small hours.
Like London it’s about the transportation connections ... you don’t need to stay on Times Square
