Childs First Passport

Has anyone done this recently? Any idea on timescales? What documents did you send in?

I applied online for my daughters first passport, uploaded photo, provided email address for a person to verify the photo (this has been completed) and provided my passport information.
I had to send in her birth certificate of which I have done however it was also asking me to send mine or her fathers in, I don't have mine and her dad playing awkward so I haven't been able to send that.

I did ring the passport office and they said they can verify with my passport number so I'm hoping that I wasn't misinformed (and I will have to apply for my birth certificate after all).

I applied online for my son's first passport on the 17th January. They only asked for his birth certificate which I sent off straight away. They recieved his birth certificate on the 24th. We had to submit a new photo as the first wasn't accepted so that added a few extra days. The application was approved on the 12th February and we recieved his passport a few days later. So it took less than a month from applying to receive it.

Thank you, I’m hoping my daughters will be fairly straightforward!

I applied online on 28/01 for my daughter’s first passport and it arrived exactly two weeks later. 👍😁

I didn’t send any documents off for my kids first passports other than their birth certificate. just wrote my passport number which was actually out of date. Came back no probs.

You also need to check if the person who's email address you have given responded? Often it is the reference person who delays things - are they still called a countersignature?

Only her birth certificate. The online system keeps you up to date with emails & text messages at all the different stages.

It has been on processing for a while now, it is a very good system for keeping updated, just want to nudge it along to the next stage now 🙂
