Mobile DLP at Christmas

Thinking of going away over Christmas next year after a few years of just really not enjoying it at home and wanting to get away.

It would just be myself and my husband.

I have only been to WDW so no experience of DLP at all.

Does anyone have any advice re: going for Christmas? Is it really unbearably busy?

Thanks for any tips x

We are going on Friday so can’t help with Christmas itself but I’ve been following a Christmas season Facebook page and it hasn’t looked as bad as I thought.
I was prepared for super busy, it’s black (the worst) days on the calendar, so thought we’d do Xmas stuff but not worry too much about rides, however been keeping an eye on Dibb wait times and it doesn’t look like it’s been too bad so far. Only a handful of rides have fastpass which you have to physically visit to get a return time.
Things to watch out for that I’ve seen are if you are on half board, Christmas Eve evening meals are not included, it is like their Xmas day.
They have an app called Lineberty for some meet and greets and they are really difficult to get - all go within minutes of being released. Everyone there now says it’s been really magical. Lots of Christmas shows, parades, characters in Xmas outfits. It’s usually really freezing so need thermals etc but this year has been unexpectedly mild. Only 1 hour EMH over Xmas itself (usually 2 hours).
We’ve been to DLP before and the staff aren’t as magical as WDW and things like queues not as well managed or respected by guests but what I like better than WDW is that it’s all so walkable - hotels, the village and both parks.

We are here now and literally we have only come for Xmas day in the park! I thought it was fine tbh no worse than Florida. We were there at 9am and I thought it was quite quiet (peter pan 5 min wait). It did get busier but totally manageable it’s just it’s tge old way of doing FP which is a bit of a pain. Its been lovely (the weather really helped as it was sunny and mild for the time of year). The fireworks were amazing and it’s been a fab Christmas Day just totally different.
Any questions please ask 😁
First time staying off site too and I wudnt hesitate if the price is right

We’ve been a few times over Christmas albeit a few years ago whe our girls were younger.
We stay in a Suite to get the VIP fast passes and for us it worked out really well as it was super busy.
I think as long as you don’t compare to WDW you will be fine. It’s a lovely change and lots of fun.

We’re here now, the 23rd was fine, Christmas Eve was brilliant, went on everything we wanted at both parks.

Yesterday was ok, went early and got most things done we wanted.

Had a lie in today, mistake, got there at 10 and the car park line took 20 mins, seemed so much busier than yesterday!

If your onsite use the magic hours and you will get so much more done, we usually do Florida and Paris is a breeze compared, would not normally contemplate a park on Christmas or boxing day in Florida!

Thank you, it’s all totally new to me (I don’t even know what the old fast pass thing is? As I have only been to WDW when there were no fast passes and then again with the new system)

Need to look at how the hotels etc work too I suppose! I am fully prepared for it to be different to Florida, just no idea how to go about planning!

We have been 3 times at Christmas 23rd/24th/25th December were generally ok crowd levels.
Boxing day is a bit busier then from the 27th December they hit level 10. Local people are off looking for something to do. Last year on 28th Dec it was insane.

Fast pass system is that you use your park tickets at a fast pass machine to get a return time for the ride you want - it’s then printed on a paper receipt that you take to the fast pass queue entrance. Only a few rides are included and there are limits to how many passes you can get - see this guide to which rides and how to use the system:

disneylandparis/en-g...ces/fast-pass/

Hotels are quite different from Orlando - on-site prices include tickets, so don’t worry about adding on tickets when pricing up! Look out for good deals, eg free dining if you want it / free nights / % off. Try the French / German etc sites as well as the U.K. one, although the others often have later offers than the U.K. site, so they probably won’t be showing offers for Christmas 2020 yet. We’ve paid £1200 for five days in the Disneyland Hotel (over the entrance to the parks) the week before Christmas (two free nights offer), and as cheap as £600 during May half term school holidays last year, staying in Santa Fe on-site (40% off). (Those holidays were for four of us though, so I assume two people will be cheaper.)

Now sitting on the tunnel but as we left this morning at 10:30 the queue for the car park was about back to the A4 would not have wanted to be there today unless I was there for opening!
