Dead fox in neighbours garden

Dh is up on the roof at the back of our house and has seen a large dead fox in our neighbours garden 😱

He’s going to pop over to let him know but I’m wondering how he should dispose of it as I think it would be a good idea to offer advice as he won’t know what to do.

A bit of background, the lady that lived there with her son died last summer and since then the son has done zero upkeep to the property so the garden has been ‘allowed to return to nature’ (his term). It’s an awful mess and is causing excessive weeds in our garden but we’ve not wanted to moan.

Dh says that he thinks there’s a fox den at the bottom of the garden so maybe this fox was returning there.

Surely the dead fox should be moved? Can’t be good to just leave it there to rot. Goodness knows what else is buried in the overgrown mess of a garden.

Sad thing is the his mum was so proud of her garden and he’s just let it go.

Any ideas what we should do?

I think that you can ring the local council and they should come and collect - I know we can contact them if we see them on side of roads etc

They may collect or tell you to double bag it and put it in the household bin.

Definitely the council, (probably the environmental health department) they should arrange collection, or you could go direct to a local deadstock collector.

We had this happen to us about 6yrs ago, may have changed now or may be dependent on the local council but we were told as it was on our property it was up to us to dispose of it! They actually told us to take it to a public area and then they would collect it, which my husband had to do one night after a few drinks of dutch courage, he still says now it’s scarred him for life!

My neighbour had one in his garden, rang the council and they were going to charge him to come and remove it... he rolled it from under the tree where it had died, to just on the council path, rang them again, and they dispose of it for free.
