Waiting for Job News...

Background - I work for small cruise line, 14 years.
Am furloughed, but we were told last week that restructuring of our company would begin this week.

Yesterday I got an email saying to be present for a video meeting today, at four thirty, to discuss propsed changes to the company and that these may affect my role. Others were also invited to the chat.

Today at 3pm got another email, postponing the meeting until tomorrow afternoon! Not happy, wish they would just get on with it... then I will know whether I am drinking wine to celebrate or commiserate!

That is annoying, but these things happen. There will be people desperate to go on holiday when things settle down, which they will. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear that. Your employer, like cruise lines around the world are struggling and nearly all are laying people off - I hope you get some good news tomorrow, stressful times.

Thanks all, I am comforted knowing I will not be alone if I do lose my job, and its not personal its just another sad side effect of this virus.

Be optimistic. Even if this job does end, there will be demand again. There are people that have carried on as normal during this and there are people that are dying to get back to normal. The IKEA queues tell me that there are people that want to get back to normal, rather than they want to go shopping in IKEA. I think when the world opens up, people will be clamouring to book their holidays. You will be in demand.
