It was a Mexican Riviera cruise on Discovery Princess. Our ports were Cabo, Mazatalan and Puerto Vallarta. I would really recommend it, we have done quite a few Caribbean ports from the east coast so it was a nice change to sail from the west coast.

I'm not entirely sure if these cruises run all year, maybe other cruise lines do, but I know Discovery changes to an Alaskan cruise for the summer season. I think they also do shorter (4-5 days) cruises to San Francisco/San Diego etc.

If I can help with anything else, feel free to ask

Ah what a smashing time you had! I feel the same way about LA but we seem to end up here more than I’d want because if it being convenient for other things. Looking forward to reading about your cruise - our last one stopped at San Pedro, we were next to a Princess ship there

I hope you love Hawaii as much as I do - it is my most favourite place in the world ❤️ Maui being my favourite island ❤️

This is what it was like in San Pedro

It was messy getting into the terminal but by 11am we were set the next 7 days

I will do a small review of our cruise in the cruise report section soon (need to sort photos).

When our cruise ended, we had a last day in LA as our flight home was after 8pm.

We looked at doing a tour but the ship excursion still had you back at the airport by 1pm and it was just too long to hang around. We looked at other tours that picked up at the port but it's iffy taking a chance with time, which is it what happened. They had to pause disembarkation because of customs, not by much but enough to put you on a sweat if you were trying to make a set time.

So we booked a day room at Hyatt Place close to LAX. We got an Uber and left our luggage in the room and went to The Point and Manhattan Village shopping centre's close by. Got all the last minute pressi's at Macy's. We had planned to just chill then in the room but it was such a nice day, we thought it might be the last bit of sunshine we get for a while so we Uber-ed to Manhattan Beach Pier.

Loved it here

It was our first time visiting here. Really laid back vibe, mostly locals it seems. We had lunch at a busy gastropub just off the pier and strolled around a few shops before heading back to the hotel.

We got a little rest, showered and got the hotel shuttle to the airport. All on time, easy flight, got a little rest. 2 hour drive home

We really enjoyed our trip, jetlag was a curse for the week but worth it.

Thanks all for reading along, commenting and liking xx
Tina the pier looked lovely just like Tramore on a summer’s day 🤣🤣

Can’t beat Macy’s for a few bargains ! What a great idea getting a day room to break the flight home , shame the jet lag hung around so long 😢

😘😘xx

Exactly like Tramore

It was great having the hotel room, I know we only ended up being in it for about 2 hours but being able to relax before the long travel home and get ready in comfort made everything easier xx

These downtown LA places are all on my list for our California trip in June. I didn't realize we could do them all in one day! Now I have to rework my plans... lol

edited to add: reading your trip report closely now. Loads to learn.

We did DTLA in about 5 hours total and that was taking our time. Map out what you want to do/see and group them by area.

Thanks for reading
