A few days in LA

We had two full days in LA before a cruise last month. We packed a bit in but we weren't tying ourselves to plans as we have covered a lot of typical tourist spots on previous trips. We mostly used Uber/Lyft and also the metro. I almost always forget to take photos of food before I've started eating so apologies for the lack of food pics.

Any questions, just ask.
Tina x

We stayed at the Premier Inn Dublin airport the night before our flight.

First drinks of the holiday (and the year )

We've stayed here countless times but this was our first time doing the meal deal, two course dinner, drink (wine, beer etc) and breakfast the following morning. It was a really good deal and we enjoyed everything we got.

Travel day

Our flight was in the afternoon so we had a leisurely morning and breakfast before going to the airport. Security lines didn't look too long but took about 20 minutes total to get through. A little look around duty-free etc and we went straight to US Preclearance. Quickest we've even been here, 10-15 mins total.

We thought about booking into the 51st & Green lounge but the reviews aren't great lately so we went to Whiskey Bread bar and restaurant. Really nice vibe here, good quick service.

We were still full from breakfast so we just went with some toasties. Gary had chicken I had tuna.

Pre-flight drinks.

The happy face you make when your 11 hour flight is delayed over an hour

Good to go!

Obligatory plane pretzels and fizz pic Gary had beer.

Food was alright (as far as plane food goes).

Pretty uneventful flight, watched some tv, read, napped and had an easy disembarkation. Got an Uber to our hotel. We stayed 3 nights at The Adler in Hollywood. It was a nice hotel, clean, recently renovated and in a nice area about 7-8 min walk from Hollywood Blvd.

We strolled over to a mini market 2 minutes away and got some water, drinks etc. There was also a couple of fast-food restaurants here but we weren't hungry. Got a little unpacked and had an early (or late ) night.

Hollywood Sign, WOF & Griffith Observatory

We were up early (as you do), went for a little stroll on Franklin Ave where our hotel was. We got back a little after 7am and Clark's diner, attached to our hotel was open so we stopped in for some breakfast. Gary had a full breakfast, I had a breakfast burrito. It looks small here but it was huge and I couldn't finish it. All our food was good.

We set off for the day.

Beachwood cafe

Innsdale Trail

Last house on Mulholland

Back down to Hollywood, we did WOF, Ovation mall, Chinese theatre etc.

Funko

We had lunch at Hollywood Burger across the street, it was really good.

We spent the evening at Griffith Observatory.

It was quite smoggy so the view wasn't as good as precious trips.

Pottering around inside.

We had dinner at Birds of Hollywood about 5 minute walk from our hotel, we both had chicken dishes.

It was still early when we got back so we popped into Lily's bar, attached to our hotel. Fab cocktails and great vibe.

I’m so happy to see this Tina! 🩷 How fab that you had a nice uneventful pre-travel day. Check-in and Security sounded fairly smooth and how delicious did those toasties look! Good to hear that the flight was straightforward, plane food is always terrible. 😂
Your breakfast burrito is definitely something I would pick, they are deceptive though as they are very filling. What great photos of the Hollywood sign 😍 and also the Griffith Observatory (we didn’t get there on our trip but it is on the list for next time), you both look so happy. 🥰 The Hotel bar sounds fab, what a wonderful way to end your day! 💕

Thanks so much Michelle 💖🥰 Apart from the small delay, everything went great.

This is the closest I've gotten to the Hollywood sign. We've been to Lake Hollywood Park before but I read about the trail above it and we walked the streets up Mulholland hwy for a bit, scoping out the fancy houses 😄

I think it was our third trip by the time we made it to the Observatory 😆

It really was a lovely day, thank you 💕 xx

Awww lovely pics of you both in Hollywood ❤️🇺🇸I’d be annoyed at a delay when I’m flying, not what need long haul though
Can’t see any cake pics yet 🫢🙈

Downtown LA

Another early start today. We had ham and cheese croissants at a little bakery/doughnut shop beside our hotel. We were off then to downtown LA.

Union Station

Olvera Street, There's a couple of small free museums here worth a look.

We went to The Last Bookstore about 10:30-40 but it didn't open until 11am (didn't check times beforehand ), we weren't bothered to wait around.

Went to Grand Central Market, we planned to eat at Eggslut but the line was crazy so we got some mexican food and it was delicious.

Across the street to Angels Flight railway

One California Plaza

Walt Disney Concert Hall

The Broad

Infinity Mirrored room

We had a great morning pondering around DTLA

Thanks Claire 💖 I sincerely apologise for a lack of cake pics 😵🤪 I think once all trip we got dessert. It was on our cruise and I think I actually have a photo 🙈 I'll do a small review on the cruise soon and I'll be sure to include it x

Hi Tina

What great photos of your trip 💕
I’m sure LA isn’t for everyone and I’m in that category but I do love seeing everyone else’s photos 😁

Thanks for sharing , hope you are keeping well 😘😘xx
