Aulani Waves and Disneyland Days: An Ohana Adventure - Day 17 The cutest bread in the world
Day 17 - The cutest bread in the world
California Adventure, Pym Test Kitchen breakfast, Baymax bread, Pixar Pier, Ghiradelli, Plaza Inn, final night dinner and drinks at Trader Sam’s, back in to DCA then over to Disneyland Park. A bit of a later start today, we arrived in California Adventure at around 9:15am and went straight to Pym Test Kitchen for breakfast! We got the Cinna-Pym Toast 2.0 (Challah French Toast with Smoked Bacon and Maple Syrup with Blueberry-flavoured Popping Spheres) And a “Calculated Breakfast = E x 2 + (B+P)/T” (Eggs Two Ways with Smoked Bacon, crispy Potato Bites and Focaccia Toast) Andy and I shared the calculated breakfast, which even for one person was pretty measly and was just “meh” it was obviously supposed to be gimmicky but it was just a bit small and boring on flavour. Izzy loved the French toast though. It was so busy and we struggled to find a table but we did eventually find one outside and it was quite lucky as there was a little stunt show outside whilst we were there that we could watch. Immy didn’t like anything on the menu so we said we would get her something afterwards and she had seen the day before the Baymax Sourdough over in San Fransokyo Square and wanted this. We had to get into a queue to get our hands on the Baymax Sourdough but it only took about 10 minutes in the end. How cuuuute! We also went in to Ghiradelli and got an Ocean Beach Sea Salt Caramel Sundae (Caramel sauce, vanilla ice cream, handmade milk or dark chocolate hot fudge topped with whipped cream, sea salt, and a Milk or Dark Sea Salt Caramel Square) and some Ghiradelli Squares to take home! We squeezed in a few rides and attractions including Pixar Pal Around (non-swinging!) They also had this lovely thing at the Coco Area where you could share a happy memory and tie it up with everyone else’s. Then walked over to Disneyland Park to the Plaza Restaurant for lunch. We got 3 portions of the Fried Chicken (three pieces of Chicken, fried to a golden brown, seasoned with distinctive Herbs and Spices, served with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Buttermilk Biscuit and seasonal Vegetables) and some diet cokes and sat outside - it was so good - a first for us and we would definitely go again. After lunch, we went on a few rides including Autopia and then rode the “vehicles of Main Street” bus to the exit - another first for us - it was very cute. We left the park at about 2:40pm and strolled back to our hotel to chill for a bit and get ready with a few drinks and some music, packed a little and checked in for our flight the next day. We had another reservation at Trader Sam’s tonight because we just couldn’t get enough We arrived at the check in desk just before 6:30pm for our reservation. I did the check in on the app and also went up to the desk to tell her that I’d done that. There were so many people sat around waiting for standby tables, I was really glad we had been able to book. The woman at the desk said to me “Yeah, you’re looking at a 45 minute wait and it’s going to be outside not inside the bar, OK?” I said “Sorry, what do you mean?” She said “It will be 45 minutes wait and it’s only outside as we are so busy”. Confused, I said “What’s the point in booking if we have to wait 45 minutes and don’t even get to go inside?” Then she said “You won’t be able to go in because you have to go online and book to go inside, the wait to go inside is 2 hours and kids can’t go in after 8pm.” I said “yeah, we booked online 30 days ago, we have a reservation and I know kids can’t go in after 8pm that’s why I booked 6:30pm!” She then realised we had a booking and were not joining the waitlist (I did say this at the beginning but maybe she misheard me) and we were seated inside within a few minutes. Crisis averted! For drinks, Andy got a HippopotoMai-Tai (Coruba Dark Rum, Bacardi Superior Rum, Orange Curaçao, Orgeat (Almond) Syrup, Agave Nectar and fresh Lime Juice) and I got a Krakatoa Punch (Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, Pyrat XO Reserve Rum, Orgeat (Almond) Syrup, Sam's Gorilla Grog, and Hibiscus Granadine) whilst the girls got a Polynesian Punch each (Sam’s Gorilla Grog and Hibiscus Grenadine). We didn’t buy mugs this time as we already had these. We got some things the same as last time but also some different items. We got the Panko-crusted Long Beans (served with Togarashi Aïoli), the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Wings (served with Togarashi Aïoli), the Wagyu Hawaiian Cheeseburger (served with Grilled Pineapple, Applewood-smoked Bacon, Havarti, Sweet-and-Spicy Spread, served with choice of Sweet Potato Fries or French Fries), and the Tonkotsu Ramen (Rich Pork-based Broth, Wavy Noodles, Pork Belly Slices, Fresh Green Onions, Shiitake Mushrooms, Sambal, Soft-boiled Flavored Egg, and Nori). Food was awesome again and lots of people were ordering fun drinks so there was lots going on inside the bar with the volcano erupting and lots of shouting Andy and I decided to have a sharing drink for our final one - a Sea Monster's Embrace (The Real McCoy and Plantation Dark Rum, New Amsterdam Gin, E&J Brandy, Passion Fruit, Falernum, and Juices of Lime, Orange, and Pineapple) It was very strong - not our favourite of all the drinks but we wanted to try it. We didn’t buy this mug but I kind of wish we did. We also spent ages watching this statue to try to catch his eyes moving and did manage to in the end After dinner it was time to head back into the parks for the LAST TIME! And since we wanted to squeeze in every bit of Disney magic that we could and because e had park hoppers, we decided to do both parks this evening. We got into California Adventure at about 8:15pm and the girls got a Bing Bong Memory Refresher to share but it was so sweet I think they left about half of it even with my help! We were able to fit in Incredicoaster and a few more rides and look at all the gorgeous lights right up until the park closed at 9:30pm. Then we walked straight over to Disneyland Park and had the best time riding as much as we could (the park was so quiet) and stayed until about 11pm (I hardly took any photos!) Then we walked back to our hotel for the final night ready to fly home tomorrow!

A fantastic last day and thank goodness the server at Trader Sam’s realised her mistake!
It looks like so much fun in there, I’ve only ever sat outside the one in WDW. How lovely you visited both parks to say goodbye in the evening, great that they weren’t busy either! |
