where has it gone ?

We went to our local supermarket today, 3 times I stood back to let people pass and 3 times, not even a thank you.

At the end, we gave our trolley to someone else and gave them a £1 coin, only to find when we took the trolley back there was a Euro in the Trolley... how ignorant is that.

I give up sometimes.

Some people leave their manners at the door of a supermarket and think they have a right to be as rude and inconsiderate as they like
I worked for Asda for almost 13 years and what you encountered today was quite mild rudeness compared to some of the things I've seen and heard.

I’m like you and agree some people have no manners at all. As for the euro, well that’s stealing really.

I usually say a loud “ thank you” as I walk on if I hold the door or let someone pass and they don’t thank me !
With the trolley, maybe benefit of the doubt, the person may have been with someone else who was in their car who had collected the trolley and he/ she didn’t realise there was a euro in it.

I do get frustrated at lack of manners generally myself though.

Yes I am of that opinion too, what does annoy me is, when you are next to be served in a long que, another till is opened and everyone runs to it, instead of calling the customer, next to be served.( I had a loaf the person being served had a huge amount of shopping) do they think I have been standing there for the good of my health, really makes my blood boil.

Save the Euro for the next trolley you need.

To be fair I’ve had a few euros in my change over the years and even with the multi edges on a pound coin it’s easy to pass one on. The person had probably been using it all the time for trolleys, and because you took their trolley you ended with the euro. I don’t see it as ignorant at all, they used the euro to unlock a trolley and would have got it back if you hadn’t taken the trolley before they returned it. They probably hadn’t thought about it. If you had got my trolley it would have had an Arnold Clark trolley coin they used to give away on key rings


As for no thanks after moving out of the way, I don’t give to expect back. I’m afraid it’s the way of the world nowadays. I’m used to it now. You let a car out into traffic, you used to always get a thank you wave, no there less and less acknowledgement.

How is it stealing? If the person with the trolley had got back as far as the trolley park then they would have had their Euro back.
Am I stealing because I use an Arnold Clark freetrolley coin?
