Pubs to close in the north from Monday?

We were in the pub last night, when the manager got a call to say that the pub (itís a biggish brewery and food chain) was likely going to have to close from Monday.
She quickly scurried her 2 deputies away to tell them, we are friends with one and he told us.
We couldnít find anything on the news. But articles are starting to pop up saying that this may be the case for pubs and restaurants for at least a fortnight from Monday.
Suppose we shall see shortly

Sounds about right - I have a night out planned next week 🤦
All extra restrictions have happened in my area to coincide with a rare planned event.

Yep, they pretty much killed Central Scotlands hospitality industry with Sturgeons announcement yesterday, so sad.

Just when I have been bought a Golden ticket (doing Stoptober and it is a donation which means I can have a drink) and I was going to get banjaxed (in a socially distancing correct manner whilst wearing my Donald Trump mask)

I read this on a BBC article
Just no end in sight and I feel so sorry for the people who run businesses and work in the hospitality industry

Feel sorry for our village pub landlord who has done everything requested of him to the point of excluding people from the pub. Spending a small fortune on the outdoor space and providing masks to people who had either forgotten them or just plain tried not to bother. I doubt he will survive another lockdown.

Me too, we went to our local pub quiz last night and we were the only team to turn up. They said they have been very quiet since Eat out to help out and were already panicking about their jobs.
I said to DH that it seemed too specific to just be a rumour.

Iím gutted really. We donít go out that often, but maybe lunch or dinner once a week as a treat. Iím just hoping they donít close the gym. Feeling even more spooked about our weekend away to Windsor/Fat Duck in 3 weeks now

Doesn't surprise me, but I find it completely annoying and pointless!
Pubs have been open since the middle of July, covid rates didn't shoot up straight away, not until school/colleges started back. This is probably because schools are sending everyone with a cold/cough off to a test center for a test. They'll be picking up asymptomatic cases as they're testing more, and they'll also be picking up more false positives, which we know can occur.

Now they want to pin it all on pubs/restaurants and close it down.
How does covid know to only affect people in pubs in the north and not the south of the country? If you're closing pubs/restaurants do it everywhere.

They're trying to suck the fun out of life, no football, no holidays, no leisure activities, no seeing friend/family. Just go to work and go home and repeat until you die. 😡
