Coughing after eating

Does anyone else get this?

Sorry if TMI but for a few years now I find it really hard to clear my throat after eating, I have to cough until I bring up phlegm. (Sorry!)

It doesn’t happen with everything I eat, so I’m wondering if it could be the sign of a food allergy?
It’s getting worse as time goes on.

If I can’t cough it up I find it really irritates my chest for a good hour or so and I’m constantly clearing my throat.
It doesn’t seem to be anything in particular that triggers it although I must admit I haven’t keep a proper diary of it.

I’ve just eaten a plain boiled egg and it triggered it.
And after a homemade cheeseburger last night.

But cereal this morning didn’t trigger it.

I’ve read it could be GERD but I’m wondering if I should be allergy tested.

Anyone else had this?

I’m in my mid 30s, relatively good diet, active and not overweight.

I'm terrible at not practicing what I preach but best see a GP. Did you have milk on your cereal?

Agree with this. I get this with acid reflux.

If you want to try something over the counter first then Nexium are the same as Omeprazole.

Me too!😔, doesn’t feel like acid reflux at all. Feels like an allergy to some food type or something?

I used to feel like something was stuck in my throat and it was silent reflux so no burning at all. You do need to get this checked as it could be doing damage to your wind pipe. I take a reflux table every day now.

Please get it checked at the Drs, my FIL had a similar thing, he did go but they insisted it was all in his head that he was bring food back up and couldn’t swallow properly, it turned out he had pancreatic cancer. So I’m not saying it’s that at all, but please get a professional opinion
