I have a friend whose daughter is going through similar, they gave her a small high calorie shake type drink that she had to consume during the day along with her meal plan to help her gain, as similar to you are saying your daughter is becoming full up with the regular food as her stomach is so small this may be a better route to gain the extra calories - worth asking about?

No direct experience but my step brother worked at the Priory Roehampton for years. He says it's a fantastic unit. My friends daughter is having support with other local eating disorder team but they are just at the beginning of support. Wishing your daughter well.

Can't add any advice, except to say that my cousin's daughter was an inpatient here in Scotland for bulimia. It was a very challenging time, and she took almost two years off uni, but went back qualified as a primary school teacher and has since managed to produce two children (fertility can be an issue) and loose the excess baby weight in a healthy way.
Just wanted to say that things can work out. Best of luck.

Ironically my dd was given some of these shakes about a year ago when she had her one and only dietician appointment , but didn't take to them at the time ( with hindsight this was probably intentional ) . But we asked her current specialist if she should take them now , and it was suggested that she shouldn't .
I think I will take it up again with her at the next appointment as I'm not quite sure what the downside is . Thanks for the suggestion

Just to update you all. My DD was refused for outpatient / daycare at both the galaxy and the priory due to her bmi being too low for their services. Her weight then failed to pick up and inpatient seemed inevitable. we Tried to get funding from the nhs for the priory as an NHS bed was due to become available at our local unit which would not have suited her
The funding was approved on Friday morning and we immediately got a phone call saying she had to go in straight away. Friday was a very difficult day .
But she is in the right place. She has to use a wheelchair until her bmi hits 14 so that is a huge incentive as she was really upset when she found out she had to use the wheelchair
The road ahead is a long one , but she is in the right place and seems to have settled in well. Thankfully my son (12) seems to be coping with it but he doesn't realise what a long stretch it will be

This will be a tough time for you, but you can see from the recommendations on here that she is in a wonderful place. She will be given the tools she needs to deal with the issue now, and how to recognise her own signs and symptoms should she need to deal with it in future. Best wishes
