Help needed cancelled flight / moved to next day

So just received an email from BA to day they’ve cancelled our flight to tampa for next year .
And moved our flight to the next day , which won’t work for us
We have the option to accept the flight or cancel for a refund .
This is flight only .

Can any dibbers advise if we have any additional options please ?

No you don't have to accept it - you can ask them to transfer to the Orlando or Miami flight (but the Miami one is Heathrow). If the Miami one was of interest they could possible add Miami to Tampa as a connection.

Give them a ring once you have had a look at alternatives.

You don’t have to just accept it. Call them and go armed with alternative flights on your travel day, ask them to put you on the direct Orlando flight. We had this flying to Fort Lauderdale a few years ago and they cancelled it 6 months out. I called them and they put us on the direct Tampa flight with no problems.

Thanks, gave them a call and I managed to get on the flight the day before with no issues which means no missing a days holiday ( gained a day ) and works so much better for our plans .

The 14 day notice is only relevant to cancellation compo. The passenger has a right to a refund or re-route (his or her choice) irrespective of when the cancellation occurs.

I see too many people accepting a refund in this and other circumstances, thereby leaving the airline happy knowing that the customer has absolved them of all responsibilities. Never, ever, ever accept a refund unless it absolutely leaves you better off... which is virtually never.

From memory you can ask for flights 3 days either side and to airports within 250/300 (ish) miles from the original flight. So for Florida you can switch between Orlando/tampa/miami without issue. If it’s indirect you can ask them to put you on a direct flight.

Thanks we were direct into tampa on the original flight , and got the exact route again , the day before , which suited better gaining a day rather than losing ,
