Wheel chair take or rent

Hi just thinking ahead we are in planning to go this October after the rough year we have had yes it's late planning but we have just been given the good news that my wife is now in remission from the big C.🙂
But we might need to take a wheel chair as her stamina is not what it was after all her treatment so was thinking should I take one with us or is it cheap enough to hire one over there and if anyone has hired one where is the best place to get it from

It depends on how long your wife might spend in it. Before I became a full time wheelchair user I would rent one out there, but the quality and comfort varied greatly. Last time I took my own and it was much more comfortable and easier to operate.

Never to late to plan, especially with good news to celebrate! I personally take our own for my DD who is an occasional user. You can probably pick up a 2nd hand one up cheaper than renting out there! Enjoy the planning

Great news about your wife being in remission

I took my parents in November 2015 as Mom was also in remission. I hired an electric scooter for the time we were in Florida and booked airport assistance on both outbound and inbound flights. Mom wasn't too happy about it but was grateful when she remembered all the walking she would have had to do.

Airport assistance at MCO was brilliant, we went to a dedicated desk at immigration and was helped collecting the luggage. The man even took Mom all the way to the car rental garage in the wheelchair and helped load our luggage. We were all so grateful as it made the end of the long flight less stressful for both Mom and Dad (who were both nearly 70).

The scooter was delivered on the first full day in Orlando and we were given a demonstration of how it worked and came apart etc. We had no problems whatsoever during the holiday. It was collected the night before we left so Mom only had to do a bit of walking on that last day and when she was tired we had a coffee stop and rest.

We hired the scooter from Florida Mobility Rentals and it cost $235 for 13 days hire.

Hope you all have a great holiday.

Rent a powered scooter.
Airports are fine, they pick you up at the gate and take you to the entrance and back the other way.
Easier than waiting for your own wheelchair and less pushing for hours too
