Mobile Wi-Fi issues - generally or just us?

We are hammering our Wi-fi as I’m sure everyone is. Zoom meetings. Netflix. Working from
Home. Skype. Most of the time all 4 of us at once.

We have BT fibre and it’s going off at least once a day and glitching often. I don’t know if we have a fault or if it’s just that the entire network is getting hammered.

Anyone else having issues?

When it goes off is the internet light on your hub actually going off ... or is it staying on but the WiFi to your devices is going off ?

Log in to your BT account and run some broadband tests. That will tell you if you have an external or internal fault.

It might worth upgrading to the BT smart hub 2 if it’s just a Wi-fi issue. This is one of the best home routers available

When it totally goes off we get the orange light and have to reboot the hub.
But We also get just random pauses when watching tv.

Orange light is a line fault - ring BT and they will sort it out

Mum and dad have a fault on their BT line as well.

We’re with sky and we lose connection every now and then but haven’t had to restart the hub as it’s usually just the device. Biggest culprit - Alexa.

We don’t have one of those disks. Just a BT hub. I will see if an upgrade is possible n

i'd say 90% of issues are with the wifi rather than your actual broadband. its just a matter of working out what the actual problem is.

firstly, get wifi analyzer (or a similar one for iphone)

play.google/store/apps/d...lyzer&hl=en_GB

and check for signal strength and whether there are any other networks on the same channel as you. having a neighbour on the same channel could randomly knock you off your own. if there is, change channel (google your router model for info on doing that)

if there are random drop outs, fire it up as soon as it drops, see if you can work out whats happening. could be a microwave (or similar device) causing interference

do you have any way of running directly into your router using a wired connection? (laptop and ethernet cable?) try using that when the wifi plays up, do a speed test, see if its your actual internet connection at fault (or not)

try running speed tests at various times of the day on different devices, see if you can spot a pattern
