Many now do support SMS over their WIFI calling services. These include: Three, BT, EE, ID Mobile
Those that don't as far as I know: O2, Vodafone, Sky, Virgin

Swapping is often not an option, but is certainly worth investigating. And swapping to one which provides Wifi calling and SMS on the phone the OP has may be the answer even if none can supply a good signal.

Many also provide a femtocell which still piggybacks off of your broadband and does both calls and SMS. It is a device which creates its own mobile signal for a range of around 15m.

Vodafone - Have stopped their SureSignal Femtocell but worth calling them if you are on Vodafone (You may be able to buy a secondhand one and have them register it to you).

There are options / solutions out there provided the OP has a broadband connection of more than 1mbps or an alternative provider with decent signal.

signal checker seems to suggest no company give good indoor reception here.

I am with Tesco (02?) and have a Nokia 7.1. Tesco do not support the wifi connection thingy ( see I am not very techy!).

I just did not know whether a signal booster might help.

Unlikely a mobile signal booster will help unless you go full out for an external aerial and femtocell solution. These are £250+ to buy and then you need to fit it.

Doesn't look like Tesco Mobile do signal boosters or support wifi calling on their support pages. Even if they did, O2 do not support SMS over wifi calling. They really are a cheap and chearful, no frills mobile provider.

As EE supports wifi calling with SMS support and also have broadband femtocell solution (ee/help/help-new/gener...ing-signal-box) then maybe look to switch network. Three may also be and option to get wifi calling or wifi signal booster.

Meggy. You have my sympathy as we have the same issue as you.

Years ago we could get a great signal in the house. then the local University built a monster steel and concrete sports hall thingy that has blocked the signal out totally.

I can hardly get 1 bar in the house now but if I walk 20 yards down the road I get all the bars up. Frustrating in the extreme.
