Ours was one of the first lit houses built 50+ years ago we’ve been here 21
It’s huge as built on a hill but looks like a bungalow from the front it’s now divided into a 3 bed bungalow and a 2 bed granny flat which we are in
We hope to move in the next year or 2 but as our son is here with his little boy that may not happen
Was a total mess when we bought it

Ours is a 20 year old detached bungalow on a cul de sac (houses still being built at the bottom, still only 12 houses built) we are the second owners, the first owners won £7.9m on the lottery... our big win was £90 and don’t even do the lottery now.
Bungalow is nice and spacious, we don’t plan on moving again...

Our house has no actual build date, it was used for goats and sheep until 25 years ago, my friends father who is 88 remembers it when he was a child.
The owners before us modernised it to the extent that it was watertight and became weekend home. We bought it in 2014 and totally renovated it.. off grid so solar etc it’s now classed as a proper home with the authorities

Our bungalow was originally 4 houses built in the 1880’s. They were built along a new train line, now disused, in South Wales. It is on the edge of a very rural village, around 30 miles from Cardiff. We originally thought they were local miners cottages but discovered they were built for Irish workers who came here to work in the railroads.

DH’s father bought the cottages in the early 50’s quite cheaply as they were close to a rail line and a river so liable for flooding. He converted the houses into a bungalow, filling in the lower floors and building the ground up to prevent flooding, then the rail line closed and he bought the adjoining rail line ground to increase his land. DH inherited the house after his father’s death in 1982 and we married in 1986 and have brought our three children up here.

1970... was 50 this year... typical of the era. Rectangular box, lots of light.

Have lived here 30 years, but it is not the best house... was second last built on the estate and through the years we have been able to tell... they seem to have used up the odds and ends , especially the wood bits in the roof space so we've had to have all sorts done over time to keep the 4 walls together and facing in the right direction.

Hey-ho... its home.
