There is so much wrong with this it blows my mind lol.
No BAME policy ? No gays ? No disabled ? All protected characteristics in the area of discrimination. I hope you see the end game in the way you are thinking. It should never be just down to Disney what they do just because its their own property. I accept there is a balance to be struck in the area of masks - and clearly Disney do not have the above policies - they are examples to prove a point - but its clearly discriminating against disabled people indirectly - and its not okay. I wasn't trying to say you was... - sorry if I gave the impression. I am trying to point out a mistake in the thinking of - their property their rules.
I am saying that if you give one form of discrimination a pass out with the defence of - their property their rules - then you open a very dodgy door to other forms of discrimination on that basis. It can't just be left to Disney. That is entirely not okay. If you say no mask no entry - for a lot of disabled people you are basically just saying - no entry for disabled people. Its called indirect discrimination. I know disabled people who want to go and feel discriminated against over this. Its not okay. Edited at 03:36 PM. |

Absolutely, nobody wants that. Hence my original point of "back story". My point is aimed at the behaviour of people, not the disabled who legitimately cannot wear a mask.
I have asthma, it'll probably affect me in Disney, but I'll always wear a mask. Would some others want to be exempt because they have asthma? Definitely! Would I wish to be around someone without a mask because they purely because they feel entitled to do so? No. Disney have made the rules very simple for a reason for a very specific moment in time for the health of everyone. The current rules are not a road map for the future. If they are then we're in a very sad world. |

We don't see a huge problem here with our approach of exemptions. I don't really know why it would be a big problem in the states. Our Karen to normal person ratio isn't all that different.
Hey we can agree to disagree. Again sorry if my previous post was a little clumsily worded. |

I think that once the vaccination effort is nearly over and most Americans are jabbed, Disney will reassess anyway, even if it starts with kids and exemptions.

I’m sorry but we have a disabled daughter with multiple ‘hidden’ disabilities. We don’t feel she’s being discriminated against - we feel Disney is doing all they can to keep everyone safe. Are we gutted we can’t go while masks are needed? Absolutely. Do we understand that this is a requirement due to unprecedented times and a global pandemic? Absolutely.

To try and side step the discrimination discussion (not to ignore), to add to a previous point - Disney still need to fall into line with Florida State Law. Then they also need to comply with County legislation... and as WDW crosses several, you may have noticed, for example, that tax on purchases fluctuates within the park.
So if Florida state law says "No masks", Disney cannot enforce it. I doubt that will happen unfortunately/fortunately - I firmly believe Florida State will say from the end of the year that masks are now optional both in and outdoors. Before the end of the year, they will be optional outdoors and required indoors. Purely my own opinion based upon quotes seen on CNN etc and from Disney - nothing concrete has been said by anyone on specific dates... how could anyone at the moment? Maybe in May?
