My daughter had her last performance of 5 today with our local amateur dramatics society of The Sound of Music.

I know I am biased, but the reviews on our local social media pages have been fantastic, saying it was as good as any professional show they had seen.

The set (beautiful stained glass windows), the acting and the amazing vocals were just spot on.

When the nuns sang together with the harmonies and the crescendos, it took the audiences breath away and there were a few leaking eyes!

Maria was wonderful, so talented with a wonderful voice and both childrens casts were incredible.

My daughter, now 23, has been singing and dancing since she was 3 and had the lead role at the end of primary school as Mary Poppins and the female lead in the last year at uni as Gabriella in High School Musical.

When she came back from uni, she started her singing lessons again and auditioned for the local theatre groups.

In November she was one half of the pantomime cow, Daisy, in Jack and the Beanstalk and she made a fantastic friend in the other half of the cow and they both then got a part in The Sound of Music as Nuns and Maids.

It has been a wonderful opportunity for her and a good chance to meet new people.

It was so lovely to see the local town support the shows, with the 3 out of 5 of them completely sold out and was a reminder that the cast and crew give up their time to put these shows on to entertain people.

It's now just gone 11pm and she has been at the venue since the show finished at 6.15 dismantling the set, cleaning up, loading the van and is now unloading the van at the barn they use to store their sets.

Thankfully she has booked tomorrow off work and she will sleep well tonight!
