I still like these films as well.

But then again I like Ricky Gervais and Frankie Boyle so I'll never be part of the PC brigade.

Alf Garnett was shown to be totally out of touch with the modern world back in the early 80s. That was the comedy part everyone thought he was just a daft racist.

Could this be Ronnie Barker as Clarence?
He wore a flat cap and very thick spectacles and the comedy revolved round his mishaps because of his extremely bad eyesight!
Used to make me laugh as I have very similar poor sight...fortunately corrected with contacts ..LOL !

its not just friends, lots of shows have awkward moments in that havent aged well. I re-watched scrubs recently and theres loads of stuff in there they just wouldn't have made fun of today.

have a watch of this week's "adam ruins everything"... it shows the history behind a lot of sitcom stereotypes, and why things evolve (for the better)

i was watching porridge last night on gold i think

and fletch was making some pretty off colour (no pun intended ) to Jock the mixed race guy

but conversely auf wiedersehen pet reruns are cut to bits on yesterday, taking out most of slightly risque but lets face it funniest bits, making it not worth watching as some of the incidents (the curry house scene as an example) are cut so the plot dosnt make sense at all..

Or was it Oh No its Selwyn Froggitt?
Bill Maynard en.wikipedia/wiki/Oh_No,...elwyn_Froggitt!

I also used to watch most of the series as mentioned.
I found a series by Johnny Speight on some forum many years ago which was dropped in the late 60's due to complaints!

I love Rising Damp. There were silly racial and sexuality jokes, but they were done in a daft way, not maliciously, and any malicious stuff that Rigsby said was usually laughed at because Rigsby, as the token bigot, was seen as idiotic and outdated, even back then!

Same with Allo Allo.
