Is it better than your old fence. The new one looks good and sturdy and you have gained more of a garden.

I actually like the "less decorative" side of the fence. I find it breaks up the view, somehow, and that does look like a good fence.

Still, it's disgraceful of them to behave as they have, removing your privately-owned fence without a word and not even clearing up their mess!

I don't think I'd be chasing financial compensation in your situation, but I would be addressing the incident with them, if only to bring it to their attention and to remind them that they can't just treat people so disrespectfully. None of them would be happy to be so disregarded.
