3 Nights in St. Agustine

Good afternoon and Happy New Year Dibbers!
I have just booked up the fly drive to get us back to Florida in November!
I am planning a stay in St. Augustine for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip and would like to know if you guys have any recommendations? Should we stay in the old town or at St. Augustine Beach and drive into St. Augustine?
Many thanks in advance

Hi!
We were in St Augustine for thanksgiving weekend. As it was 4 adults, we decided to stay in the old town in an Airbnb. This was perfect, as we had the whole property, and were within 15 minutes walk to the centre. No worries about designated driver or finding parking.

We visited the art market that was on over the weekend, the fountain of youth (it didn't work... ) the distillery, Flagler college, the lighthouse. We also visited plenty of shops and bars ...

We also stopped off at the outlets whilst there.

We stayed in St Ag last year and chose to stay near the old town in the BW Bayfront. Nice enough hotel, but rooms are quite small and we found it to be quite noisy. We also had a problem getting our room serviced during our stay!

However, the upside was it was a short walk to St George Street, there was an Old Town Trolley stop at the entrance to the car park, and a nice little place next door to get breakfast.

The Old Town Trolley is worth getting tickets for as you can do a complete tour and/or hop on and off. It calls at all the major sights and the driver's commentary is usually informative. We also found it a useful way to cool off as the breeze is very welcome.

We stayed 2 nights at the Penny Farthing Inn, a Victorian B&B within walking distance of everything. Free parking and wifi, the most amazing breakfasts and lovely people. I'd definitely stay there again. It's in my trip report - link below.
Would also recommend the Distillery - about 5 minutes walk away!

Stayed in a fab place last summer - our trip report may help too.
We had a similar question when we were planning, opted for the Old Town option and have to admit was a great decision.

We did not stay long enough and St Augustine is such a beautiful place, we know we will return.

Click here for our trip report index and just click on the St Augustine days from there
