Southern Florida? Help please. Flights booked to Miami but cannot decide where for family hols...

We're also doing something similar. We booked flights to Miami and didn't have a plan for a while but after lots of research and DIBB help, we decided on the following

East Coast hotel
Universal hotel
Cape Coral villa - we'll visit Sanibel, Captiva, Casperson, Naples + more
Florida Keys - turtle hospital, Bahia Honda and John Pennenkamp state parks

We weren't planning on any parks to begin with but our kids have become huge Harry Potter fans since our last trip so we had to incorporate Universal. But we're all excited to discover the beautiful places on the gulf coast... it will be lovely to just relax, enjoy the wildlife and spend time on the water.

I can recommend Marco Island, Sanibel and Anna Maria Island.
Manatee Park Nr fort Myers, we have never been fortunate enough to see them there but worth a visit if passing/break just incase. Same for Rye Preserve for Gators, a little spooky and odd though..

The walk through the Lagoon to the Tiger Tail Beach on Marco was fantastic for the kids. Sanibel for the Shells

I've just booked the Comfort Suites Nr Miami airport for our 1st night next summer then plan to go to Lovers Key/Sanibel travel up the 41 via the Nature reserve mentioned in this post. Not sure on following plans but will incorporate universal for the week and then maybe Anna Maria. final few nights I think at the Lago Mar Fort Lauderdale, a few on here have recommended and its good reviews on Trip Advisor.
