Exclamation Economy Delight -vs- Premium Economy prices!

Hello Dibbers, we are long time Dibb lurkers but I feel I need to post on this one. We have booked a villa next October (2019) from the 26th to the 9th of November, however I'm finding the PE flight prices are crazy high i.e. circa £3k on Virgin! £4k if you book through Delta!

I see that there is now an Economy Delight option which looks interesting but it seems Virgin have sneaked in this ED level of flight to bump up the PE rates to the max.

We flew last year PE with Delta(Virgin) for £1,800 return for the both of us. How come it is now so expensive? Any ideas out there when there are any sales due?

Thanks in advance folks,

Hi, I think 2019 flights are ridiculously expensive across the board at the moment. We’re going in August and I expected to pay £850-£1000pp for direct economy flights to MCO based on the experience of Dibbers who regularly travel at that time of year, but the flights for our dates have been well in excess of that. Economy Delight is essentially just ELR seats with priority boarding and there’s not much price difference between that and Economy Classic, so I don’t think Economy Delight has necessarily pushed up the price of Premium, I think it’s just the knock-on effect of high flight prices in general. Many Dibbers post that prices drop over the Christmas/New Year period, so hopefully you may find a better deal then 🙂.

I don't think it's anything to do with ED really either. 9th November has only just been released as a return flight date, so they tend to be high on release day. Not sure where you want to fly from either, but at present they've only scheduled 1 flight per day from Manchester for next October, whereas there are usually 2. It's also half term week in a lot of areas, which will also bump the price up. I would just keep looking and when you find a price you're happy with, then jump on it.

I'm also looking for October (21st - 4th Nov) and have found a similar issue. I want miles flights, but don't seem to be having any luck with Manchester, so have switched to Gatwick. Got PE miles return flights booked - just need to find the flight there! If I can't get anything, then I'll book a single ticket with Norwegian to get us there, but I'm hopeful some more will pop up

We are looking to fly from Gatwick, and yes the 9th has only just popped up so it is early days to be fair, but 1st impressions suggested some big hikes in prices. Maybe there will be some meaty sales in January

I know its not the same company but the BA prices for next year from Gatwick look to be very reasonable atm.

I'm looking for 8th to 23rd November and for economy it was under £400pp. Premium economy was about £800.

Yes, I found BA flight prices to be much better when I was looking for us too. Huge difference between the two!
