No parks?
We've booked for oct flying into ft Lauderdale. We keep changing our minds , we went in Sep so was thinking of giving parks a miss untill 2020. Has anyone done Florida for the beaches etc and not parks. I looked at a villa in Fort Lauderdale and the prices were insane. Any tips , where people have stayed villa/hotel etc. 3 kids with us for 16 nights. If all fails will go back to doing what we normally do x

This year we only went to MNSSHP and Blizzard Beach once,
Had a villa on Solana in Davenport, had some lovely lazy mornings and days round the pool Did some shopping, went to gator land, Disney Springs and visited some resorts for a few drinks using an Uber taxi We were 4ad 2ch (9 and 12) This was a first for us but thoroughly enjoyed the change of pace of the holiday The beach at Clearwater is only 90 mins drive away if you wanted to go there too |

We’ve done non-park (or very limited park) trips for the last few years - no Disney since 2013, and just love chilling out around the villa, beach trips, mooching around Disney Springs etc. We haven’t really done much of the other things Orlando/Florida has to offer, we just enjoy seeing what the day brings and relaxing! There are links to my trip reports in my signature if you fancied a look

Two years ago we spent four nights in Miami and then drove to a villa in Cape Coral and spent our days either at the beach or in the villa pool! Still got to shop and eat at our favourite places but had the most wonderful relaxing holiday

We did a Florida road trip in 2016 with our only Disney park time being a Halloween party; we did do a couple of days at a Universal but otherwise we moved from Miami to the Keys, then the Everglades, Naples and Clearwater.
I could easily fill two weeks at a villa with shopping, going out to eat, pool time etc but DH likes to get out and about more. |

Try brevard zoo or wild Florida, we enjoyed days out there and it didn’t take that long to get there.
We are going in April this year and for the first time without the kids 😳 We are doing a little trip up to Georgia, want to have a look around savannah. Looking forward to no parks and just chilling

We have booked flights to fll and our trip started off being no parks. However we are now doing a few days at universal.
So few days in ft Lauderdale, then on-site at universal, apartment at Windsor hills and then maybe down to ft Myers beach. There is loads to do without the parks, quite looking forward to a more relaxed pace after full on Disney last year. Agree fll is expensive, would look at the gulf coast or nearer to Orlando. If you do get bored there is more things to do then |
