What times to put on the hire booking?

Perhaps a silly query but I was looking earlier and was wondering about what times to put on the car hire booking.

Our flight arrives at 1720 so I was going to put 1800 as the start time and return at 1800 on the departure day as our flight leaves at 2050.

I originally had 1730 to 1800 but that added an extra day's charge!

I am guessing it will be well after 1800 by the time we get clear of the airport formalities to pick up the car?

At least an hour. I would probably put 1830 to be honest. On your return you would want to be back at least 3 hrs before departure anyway so 1830 pick up and 1800 drop off would be fine.

We always tend to get the 1.00pm flight out of Gatwick and it lands circa 5.00pm. Sometimes earlier sometimes later.

I always put 5.00pm as pick up time and 4.00pm as drop off time.

Now I have been delayed as late as 11.00pm but it matters not if you are early or late as it's the time you exit the barrier that starts your rental clock.

Just ensure you are back before that time.

In your situation I would put 5.30pm collect and 5.00pm drop off. Then on the day it will change accordingly.

Thanks all.

I put 1800 and 1800 as it doesn't charge the extra day then.
