I have a recollection of this - I would have been 8 in 1999 and first went when I was 5 but I have a recollection of all the buildings in the different lands lighting up and a phrase being said in that language - have I just imagined this?

I have no recollection of the phrase, of course, with the exception of Norway and Morocco, the buildings still light up today.

People say that Norway and Morocco don't light up for religious reasons, but the real reason is that as those showcases were added later they simply were not fitted with lights.

isn't that done at christmas/new year? A seasonal greeting in the respective language / voice of each country plays when the appropriate building is lit up.

I'm quite confused by this, I'm sure I went to Florida before 1999 and saw this.

Maybe my mind is playing tricks with me, but was sure I saw it before our 2013 trip, hmmmmm.

Didn't get to see it last October.

Our next planned trip is two or three years ago so will not see it again.

Had to look this up, I was right.

Reflections of Earth debuted in 99 but there was previous versions of the show just called Illuminations.

I read some where the show will end beginning of September and there will be no show for 2 months this being September/October there will then be a temp show put in place until the new show is completed

At the recent D23 event, Disney chairman Bob Chapek shared more details about what this transformation might look like…
The first announcement comes in regards to new night-time shows which are planned for the Park. A new show called “Epcot Forever” will debut at the park in Autumn 2019, featuring classic Epcot songs from years gone by. In 2020, this limited-time show will be replaced by a new show which, according to the Disney Parks blog, “will celebrate how Disney music inspires people around the world, and will feature massive floating set pieces, custom-built LED panels, choreographed moving fountains, lights, pyrotechnics and lasers”.

Hi

I know there was something of a light-show in 89 when we went. If you go to YouTube and search for "1987 07 06 Florida Epcot Light Show" you will see what i remember - or bits of it . Sorry cannot post links directly.

Edit: From what i remember the 1999/2000 Illuminations Reflections of Earth was the big refresh for the Millennium and was much bigger. It seems to have gone through a number of iterations over the years - but essentially the same.
