We had 1 droid depot booking and 1 savi's booking, savis is definitely needed, and to be safe I would book the droid depot too.
In regards to getting home, I got conflicting reports from everyone I asked until I did check in at DS (flying with virgin) I got 100% confirmation I could board the aircraft with my cabin bag AND my Savi's lightsaber in it's sleeve, no problems with boarding or storing the saber in the overhead locker.
