I'd find it weird if my tradesman sang me a song, at any time of year!

Maybe don’t sing and you’ll get a tip!
My dh has been shouted at for a bit of dust even tho he lays down dust sheets!

I sing to bring Christmas cheer in peoples homes, and even though it might not be the norm, I believe it should be. If all tradespeople sung Christmas songs in their customers homes, then surely that would bring happiness to so many people.

I feel for your hubby because I've have been moaned at by customers for silly things like not flushing the loo after I've used it (how petty is that).

I have a Father Christmas outfit, and I'm thinking of wearing it to my customers homes next week to bring Christmas cheer (and help me get more tips).

MH I'm sorry no one has tipped you. However, if someone is self employed, they own their buisness and take all the profit I would give them a bottle of wine for Christams.

If they are employed by someone else who takes the profit I would give them a cash tip and a bottle of wine.

Hope Mrs MH gives you a good tip this Xmas

I do get tips quite regularly. A customer gave me a £10 tip ( there cheque that they payed me was coutes bank so not short of a few bob ) I once went to a customer and it was only a small job £20, I have been going to her for years. She had talked to my mum loads of times as she used to take my work, when I told her my mum was terminally ill with mnd she gave me a £50 tip and told me to buy her some flowers over the coming weeks.

I would be happy with a case of Oyster Bay Merlot from every customer (one bottle wouldn't be enough). I think the issue is that I'm just a rubbish tradesperson, and my customers hate me

Even Mrs MH hates me and won't tip me. In fact my family have all gone off to Westfield to do Christmas shopping and have lunch whilst I am stuck baby sitting for my cocker spaniel (she howls if left on her own).

I even get told off when I sing Christmas songs indoors😫

That was very kind and generous of your customer to have given you a £50 tip to buy your sick mother flowers. It's strange because some customers who I end up undercharging and spending far longer doing their job than I had planned rarely tip anything even though I could technically charge them more. Yet the customers who I do well out of, and everything goes smoothly with their job, are the ones more likely to tip me.
