Which car hire company to use?

I normally always use Alamo, never had any problems with them, I like their skip the counter and all cars have the pass fitted for the road tolls. However, prices seemed to have rocketed across the board for car hire, so did a bit of digging this year. I found that by using usrentacar website, but picking Alamo as the provider, I can get the same car for almost £300 cheaper (for a 3 week period) than I could if I went direct to Alamo or alamobrits! Anyone know of any other tips to try?

John.
Quite a few on here use usrentacar.

I am on the point of leaving Alamo as I am finding their fleet quality is dropping.
However I use multiple sites to check the prices and show loyalty to nobody. Cost is the factor to me. I hasten to add I also wont book with some company I have never heard of and do due diligence ref their credentials first.

Plus I dig deep into reviews as we all know of the 'boiler room' fake reviews some companies pay for so I check out the wording of reviews.

My choices are as follows but in no order of preference:-

Virgin Atlantic - stand alone car hire
Andy
Alamo Brits
Alamo US via a code I have
Carflexi
USrentacar
UScarhire
Netflights
Auto Europe
Costco
Hertz with the Amex code I have

There are a few others that will come to mind soon.

For anyone that has booked Dollar Diamond ,according to our booking info you are meant to head straight to the dedicated check in desk, well we found out yesterday on our arrival it doesn't exist, so we were told to check in with Thrifty and had the usual trying to sell us more insurance, getting annoyed I asked him about the automatic upgrade whereby he just shrugged his shoulders and told us to ask at the kiosk in the car pick up, so over to the kiosk we went only to be told that was incorrect and he was just too lazy to do it, so after a few more harsh words she finally agreed to do it. I'm not saying we won't use Dollar again but forget the Diamond sounds like it was just an experiment.

Can anyone tell me about Discount Florida Car Hire that has a link at the top of this page. Is it correct that if you book with them and the price goes down they'll cancel and re-book at the cheaper price for you? If that's right, would I have to check for the price drop and then contact them to change the booking?
Sorry to have jumped in with a question on someone else's post.
Thanks
UPDATE - JUST SEEN A POST FURTHER DOWN THE PAGE ABOUT DISCOUNT FLORIDA CAR HIRE, SO APOLOGIES FOR ASKING QUESTION WITHOUT LOOKING PROPERLY.
