Barkers go Westside!

Hi Everyone

So this is my first trip report I have read so many great ones that have really help me during my trips to Orlando that I felt I should contribute!

So who’s going?

Meet me, Kylie 30, I am obsessed with Orlando it is my all-time favourite holiday destination. Having been for several consecutive years as a child and going with my husband for the last two years. I also love planning and every holiday has an in-depth itinerary. I am a general wimp when it comes to rides I don’t like anything that goes upside down or has a big drop.
Meet my husband Darren 30, he is very easy going and will normally go along with anything I suggest! He is not quite as Disney crazy as me and prefers Universal. He loves big rollercoasters but hates ToT.

The plans
I asked Darren if we could go Orlando for the third year in a row and he says he wants a break so I looked at the other locations of Disney and we settled on California. We have both always wanted to see more of California after we loved San Fran about 10 years ago. I was a little apprehensive as I HATE flying. I can just about manage the Orlando flight but California seems quite a bit further.

Itinerary:
15th April 2018 – Fly LGW – LAX
15th April – 18th April – El Royale Hotel for Universal and the Studio Tour
18th April – 22nd April – Best Western Anaheim
22nd April – 25th April – The Luxor, Las Vegas
25th April – 29th April – Best Western Plus Marina, San Diego
29th April – Overnight flight LAX – LGW
We are flying with Virgin and have hired a Mustang convertible which I’m told by Darren is a necessity!

I also have a special diet of no gluten or dairy so will be letting you know how I get on with them catering for my diet. I never have a problem in Orlando so hoping it will be the same!

Look forward to writing up my first report!

Looking forward to reading about your trip.
We're heading to California in September and visiting some of the places you are.
And are also eating GF as my other half is a ceoliac. If it's anything like our trip to the PNW earlier this year then we'll be in for a treat. We were happy to find they were fabulous catering for GF diets and visited quite a few purely GF bakeries and restaurants and ice cream parlours 😊😋

Thank you Yes I hope there will be some good food options. That's why we like going to America for a holiday as so much easier with my diet. Disney especially are always great!

Looking forward to reading and following along. We've currently booked the same hotels in Anaheim & San Diego (still waiting/depending on flights!).

We loved the West Coast - especially Anaheim (it was great to see the original Walt Disneyland and the other attractions). Las Vegas is good fun (you need to do the helicopter trip over the Grand Canyon & the Hoover Dam, it’s breathtaking) but be prepared for much higher prices on food and drink than in Florida - you will be okay for dietary needs. Looking forward to your trip report - as contemplating another west coast trip soon.
