We never do Disney when we visit and get our fix from DTD, especially the restaurants there. We are big fans of IOA and Studios and never miss Busch Gardens. Outside the parks we love St Augustine and visit NASA every couple of years. We always stay at a good hotel to get some quality chill down time as well. I think your priorities can change dependent on your expectations and how many times you have visited. Everyone will have their own opinions and their own recommendations but there is enough there for all to experience a great holiday.

I would dare to suggest that you have a bit of a rethink, Orlando without the parks doesn't really have that much to offer.
We have been to Orlando twice with no parks a number of years ago and in reality spent a lot of time in the car driving to other places. We base ourselves elsewhere in Florida now (most recently Fort Myers Beach), seek out new things to do and new places to visit and pop back to Orlando for a night or two if we get the urge to do so. You can have a good time in Orlando without the parks, but I think you can have a much better time basing yourself elsewhere. |

Cheers for this, it's exactly what i needed to hear, all the posts have been mostly positive. As I said at the beginning of my thread, we have been twice and did every disney park, universal park, water parks, discovery cove, hot air balloon, so we really just needed to know if it was worth going back without visiting the parks and you have answered perfectly.
Thank you Lynn Mac |

I do agree with you that some kind of park needs to be visited but not nessesarirly Disney. We like Seaworld because there is virtually no queing, well except the big rides but Ds does them as a single rider because the rest of us are wusses! .
This will be my 2nd trip without Disney tix. done them to death over the last 10 years and the element of suprise has gone. If only you could buy tickets to the fireworks only, then i would because that's my favourite bit. We now share our time between the coast and Orlando |
